A military funeral team conducted exercises before being sent to New York
U.S. Army Secretary Ryan McCarthy visited Fort Lee, Virginia, on April 8 to inspect the 111th Quartermaster Detached Company. In its specialization, the unit is a military funeral team.
The company is supposed to be transferred to New York, where the number of coronavirus infected is highest. Its task will be to help civilian authorities to bury the dead as a result of a pandemic.
Before being sent to New York, military personnel conducted exercises. During the training, they developed skills in handling the corpses of coronavirus victims. The training exercises were personally overseen by the United States Army Secretary.
During the exercises, the servicemen of the funeral team demonstrated proven skills.
Shortly before that, the US Department of Defense, in response to a request from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, prepared one hundred thousand bags for victims of the COVID-19 pandemic. The functions of temporary morgues will be performed by 85 refrigerated trailers sent by the Federal Agency to New York.
Apparently, in the United States they believe that the peak incidence of COVID-19 has not yet been passed, so you should be prepared for any development.
To date, the statistics for the United States is as follows: 470 thousand infections are detected with a daily increase of about 7200, the number of deaths is 16710. The mortality rate is 3,56%.
