Underwater scooter for US special forces

7
At the last exhibition in the US city of Tampa “SOFIC 2012”, STIDD Systems Inc presented a special underwater vehicle for special operations forces “STIDD DPD-XT”. The underwater scooter is not a new development, but is a modification of the underwater scooter "STIDD DPD", which has been successfully used by the American special services for several years.

This unit is made in two versions:
- STIDD DPD - underwater / surface movement apparatus with one engine;
- STIDD DPD-XT - underwater / surface movement device with two engines.

Underwater scooter for US special forces

The main purpose of underwater special scooters is the hidden delivery of special operations force soldiers, combat swimmers to a given point below / above water. An additional purpose is the use in the civilian sector, for scientific underwater research, for learning to scuba diving and in the entertainment business.

The underwater scooter is made of aluminum alloys, a high-performance brushless motor is used as power, powered by 2-x lithium-ion batteries. The movement is carried out due to the work of the channel screw. The 72 kilogram weighs and provides for underwater movement for 2 hours at a speed of up to 6 km / h, two equipped people with a payload of up to 45 a kilogram.

The modified "STIDD DPD-XT", which has engines instead of one 2, has the following advantages over the basic version:
- speed characteristics increased 1 / 3;
- additional range of action;
- in case of failure of one engine, you can continue to perform the task on the second engine;
- double high efficiency of the device, low noise of the “26VDC” engine drives;
- increased payload - the device is able to move up to 4-x equipped people with a full load;
- improved lithium-ion batteries;
- underwater scooter is able to dive to a depth of 80-meters.

The device was equipped with the following equipment:
- sophisticated electronic navigation system (RNAV);
- sonar;
- Doppler speed meter;
- GPS receiver;
- depth gauge;
- magnetic compass.

        There is, but the apparatus for a larger number of people, respectively, the other dimensions. The range in the underwater position is longer and most importantly in the surface position it can go on almost planing mode.

      So the "specialists" responded to you. Oha. I have to celebrate annually in the RVC, only because of the word "sniper" in the WB ...

    An ordinary transporter, fundamentally no different from what Cousteau made, except that the cruising range and diving depth are greater (in other words, both European and American transporters have long dived to 90 m). Ryder, the herd is right - "Sirena", what is Even the first "Sirens" had an autopilot (kept a given course and depth, including at stops), dived 40 meters, had a cruising range of 16 miles (approximately 30 km), and had an underwater course of 4 knots, and at the same time - in addition to two saboteurs, they carried an airborne charge, however - these are completely different classes of transporters.

      wei now all over the world the industry has begun to produce electric motors without "brushes". The efficiency of such motors is slightly higher than that of the classical ones (due to the absence of friction between the "brushes" on the rotor collector), one of these motors is installed on this device. Consider this article as an advertising brochure for divers who are tired of waving their fins))). The underwater special forces have transporters steeper than this aquaplane with a motor. And in the production of diving equipment, the United States has never been a leader (suffice it to say that the US underwater special forces are armed with a German self-contained breathing apparatus (or rebreather , new) Dräger.

        Does such an engine cost the same as with "brushes"? That's it.
