Peresvet combat duty and new capabilities of the Strategic Missile Forces

57

The Chief of the General Staff, Army General Valery Gerasimov, announced the start of the service of promising Peresvet laser systems. This product completed the stage of pilot combat duty and switched to full combat duty. As reported, the task of "Relight" is to ensure the operation of mobile soil complexes of strategic missile forces.

Stages of the journey

The existence of a laser complex, later known as Peresvet, was announced on March 1, 2018 by President Vladimir Putin. Together with the laser complex announced several other types of weapons. Subsequently, Peresvet was repeatedly mentioned in various reports, but new details were not received.

In December last year, the country's leadership announced the beginning of pilot combat duty. Such problems were solved by Peresvet from December 1, but no details were provided. The bulk of the data is still not disclosed.

On February 20, 2019, the president again raised the topic of combat lasers. According to him, it was planned to transfer all the "Relight" troops to the troops to full combat duty in December.

On December 18, General Gerasimov at a briefing with the participation of military attaches of foreign countries revealed new data on "Relight". According to him, since the beginning of December such complexes have been on combat duty. The equipment is deployed in positional areas of the PGRK. The task of combat lasers is to cover the maneuvering actions of missile systems.

Thus, for the first time at the official level, the mission and features of the latest domestic development were revealed. Statements by the Chief of the General Staff remove a number of questions and confirm some of the previously expressed versions.

Goals and objectives

The purpose, goals and objectives, as well as future operators of the Peresvet complex, remained unknown until recently. It is now clear that this system was developed in the interests of the Strategic Missile Forces. Its task is to ensure the duty of mobile soil rocket systems located in positional areas. It can be assumed how exactly such problems should be solved.

Since the first reports on the existence of "Relight" the most popular version, according to which this complex is intended for the implementation of air defense. Depending on the characteristics of the laser emitter, it could damage air targets or "blind" their optics. The most daring estimates also mentioned the possibility of combating enemy spacecraft, such as SPRN satellites.

Apparently, the version of the air defense system, built on new principles, turned out to be correct. It is this option of using a combat laser that is most useful in the context of ensuring PGRK duty.

Laser vs

Existing PGRK have a number of characteristic advantages and are characterized by increased combat stability. Due to this, they are a convenient and effective means to retaliate against the aggressor. However, such qualities make the mobile complex a priority goal. The enemy will make every effort to identify, detect and timely defeat PGRK.

To detect missile systems on patrol routes, various reconnaissance equipment can be used. It can be optical reconnaissance spacecraft, unmanned aerial vehicles or some types of manned aviation. In view of the characteristic features of position areas and patrol routes, optical reconnaissance equipment is of great importance.

Counteraction to air and space platforms with optics can be carried out in several ways. One of them is the use of combat lasers that can disrupt the operation of intelligence systems or destroy them. Now, such a niche in our army is occupied by the new Peresvet complex. His "skills" are now being used in the interests of the Strategic Missile Forces.

Based on this assumption and the available official data, we can imagine exactly what the combat alert of the laser complex looks like. A system consisting of several mobile units must arrive at a given position and deploy. The well-known type of Peresvet components shows that this complex cannot work in motion and needs a stationary position.

According to external target designation or using its own means, the complex must search for air or space targets and take them for independent tracking. Then, using high-power laser radiation, temporary or permanent incapacitation of the optics is carried out. With sufficient power, the laser can literally burn through the structural elements of the target with a fatal result.

As a result, the enemy cannot continue to explore the area and loses the ability to detect PGRK on patrol routes or at firing positions. Thanks to this, missile systems can continue to operate with minimal risk.

What reconnaissance means Peresvet can fight with is not clear. Apparently, the power of the laser with a margin is enough to "blind" air targets. Also, one cannot exclude its ability to damage their structure. The anti-satellite potential of the complex is in question.

Army needs

In the role of a duty watch, the Peresvet complexes interact with existing PGRK. In our Strategic Rocket Forces there are three types of such systems - Topol, Topol-M and Yars. Mobile soil systems are armed with eight missile divisions deployed in different regions.

Manning all compounds with laser systems and preparing positional areas will be associated with known difficulties and take a lot of time. First of all, significant quantities of serial laser systems are required - up to several dozen. They need to organize positions and ensure interaction with other components of the Strategic Missile Forces.

How many “Peresvet” and in what terms they want to receive missile forces is not known. Probably, such data will remain a mystery for a long time. Prior to their announcement, one will have to rely only on estimates and forecasts.

Principal novelty

Without exaggeration, it can be argued that this month a new era began in stories our armed forces. A promising model, using fundamentally new principles of work, took up combat duty. A novelty with wide capabilities - and classified characteristics - has found application in the most responsible direction, in the Strategic Missile Forces, and is now participating in strategic containment processes.

In the coming years, one should expect mass production of serial “Relights” and the gradual introduction of such equipment in the missile forces. It cannot be ruled out that the issues of using such equipment in other branches of the armed forces — with subsequent purchase and deployment to their armaments — will be worked out in parallel. However, even without this, already on the basis of the latter News from the Strategic Missile Forces we can talk about the successful completion of work and the introduction of a fundamentally new system.

Yes, no secret and no, in my opinion. Where Peresvet is deployed, there is Topol. Yes, Peresvet itself is by no means a Stealth, a rather cumbersome system that does not detract from its merits. I hope that the military correctly assigned its tasks, and scientists and industry carried them out!

The first question is, what period photos are posted? At least one about two years ago. Is the same chassis left? Indeed, as one of the forum participants rightly remarked, on such a chassis only puddles on asphalt can be overcome.

The main thing is that the missile systems have time to scatter in different directions like cockroaches, and for this you need to stand and "shine". They will roll out the hangar and turn it on - that's it.

I think logically - this thing can’t work on the go and because of the terrain and natural obstacles like trees, it will have problems, so it makes no sense to drive it, as combat readiness will be reduced. Maybe I'm wrong, but I see no reason to change my mind.

Relight, like Yars complexes, should get away from hitting the base. To a rather unpredictable place several tens of kilometers from the Yars deployment site, ahead of the reconnaissance satellite flight path. And if necessary, change position. To do this, it is enough to be able to move along public roads. There is no need to be in the immediate vicinity of the division.

We do not know the range, and the laser beam is scattered in the atmosphere and loses power, so we cannot go far from the launcher. Further: fog, rain, snowfall and smoke sharply reduce the efficiency of the laser, and then what is the "pipe" to Peresvet?
Therefore, the question is, why can’t you cover up the PGRK, for example with Shell?

In this case, the aerospace reconnaissance systems will not be able to detect the PGRK. The task of the complex is to blind the enemy. If he is already blind because of atmospheric phenomena, then the work "Peresvet" is not needed at this time.

He does not need to be near the launch, he needs to be where the UAV that Yars is looking for can spin. If the UAV is already near the launch, then the Carapace is certainly better. But I have a suspicion that the new Shell-SM will be better than him in any situations.

Quite right - optical reconnaissance satellites are in orbit ~ 250 km high, so Peresvet, being in a stationary position and having a radiant funnel with an opening angle of 60 degrees, will be able to "gouge their eyes" and cover the PGRK combat patrol area ~ 250 km in diameter.

Being installed on board the Il-76 or Il-96, "Peresvet" will be able to have a radiant funnel with an opening angle of 90 degrees and cover the area of combat patrolling of the PGRK with a diameter of 500 km.

Lacrosse radar reconnaissance (centimeter) satellites are in orbit at an altitude of 650 km and have low resolution, insufficient to track PGRK - satellites are used to detect buildings, structures, surface ships, etc.

Since 2010, the United States began replacing it with FIA (Future Imagery Architecture) satellites with an orbit altitude of 1100 km and a slope of 123 degrees. As of 2016, the satellite constellation amounted to 4 units.

"Peresvet" is not a panacea, it was created to react to targets such as light attack drones, barrage of ammunition, and suppress the optics of high-altitude spy planes. Its power is not yet enough for a ground target such as an armored personnel carrier or an infantry fighting vehicle, only storytellers can write about the fact that this type of laser and tanks will burn.

When the international situation leads to the exchange and launch of nuclear missiles, the laser will not be a factor. And at an earlier stage, Russia's air defense will not allow foreign flying objects inside the country. There was a lot of writing here that modern anti-ship missiles with ARGSN are ineffective against ships with electronic warfare. The same applies to conventional RC when working on moving soil targets. Moreover, the number of missiles in a salvo does not matter. No target designation.
But this is done easily and naturally from satellites. Such a complex can also be used to blind them and damage optical paths. Anyone who doubts the sufficiency of energy can view photos of buildings with a shiny roof in Google during the day. If the reflected rays fall into the lens, then the spots of light and blinding are notable. But there is only a sunny bunny.

So that the propagandists could speak, yes, they stole 2 million rubles from us, future pensioners, but what kind of funderwaals they did. Poseidons and nuclear-powered cruise missiles are outright nonsense, but like Goebbels, outright lies must be slightly smashed with truth and half-truths. As such a half-truth, Peresvet is just suitable. Which has already been "taken on alert". I guarantee that this thing never fired when it was on experimental combat duty, because it was not intended for this, but to fool the electorate. There, where the PGRKs are driving, the forest is a wall and Peresvet will see the aircraft only when it flies over it. Well, if Peresvet, and with him the PGRK, stands on a very wide clearing, then he (Peresvet) will see more, but he will not have the reaction time. I think that these mastodons are in hangars, from the very beginning of experimental combat operation, and the photos that we are shown are photos from two years ago.

A satellite with a nuclear reactor is fundamentally different from the proposed Raman reactor. A satellite reactor with an efficiency of 3% is a thermoelectric generator with a meager efficiency. Such still stood throughout the Northern Sea Route. The resource of the satellite reactor was of the order of 3-4 months. KR should have a direct-flow engine, the working fluid of which (air) and the working fluid is heated not at the expense of chemical. combustion of fuel, and due to heating from a nuclear reactor. A fundamentally different way to obtain energy. In the case of a nuclear reactor in the Kyrgyz Republic, there must be an intermediate coolant, water will not work, metal salts remain that must remain liquid, which means the reactor must always work and discharge heat somewhere and at the same time provide radiation protection.
At the technological level, which is now impossible to make such a reactor in Russia. You do not think that in Somalia they will be able to create and produce a modern WFD.
Relight is not very smart PR, of course there is a laser with some power, but its power is classified, because there is nothing outstanding in it, at the level of lasers in Turkey or Israel.
The tops of the Christmas trees can be set on fire. Peresvet is capable, it is indisputable.

So, they probably still want to raise the retirement age of three years, and for this it is necessary to create a veil that the money from saving on pensioners went to Wunderwaflu, which is called Peresvet. Guns instead of pensions.

What works well is no secret.
All laser developments in the West are very open.
They are brought to international exhibitions, demonstrate shooting
    on targets.

I agree with you by 146%. Of course, I could have put more percent, but then the Electoral Commission will be offended, so no offense for 146
All the prodigies from the message that are classified (prodigies) are purely for PR, in the hope of guidance that they will someday finish them or forget about them.

Yes, where does the air defense? Why reinvent the laser if it is possible to cover the PGRK with ordinary air defense systems like Tor or Pantsyr, which, unlike Peresvet, can work on several air targets at once on the go? Yes, and what could threaten PGRK in remote taiga? Or maybe enemy reconnaissance planes day and night plow the sky over Siberia? Oh really? Where, then, are all our calculations with the s-400?

The purpose of Relight is to neutralize the space echelon of the American SPRN 100%! There is nothing to think about!
