Russia and Turkey are close to signing an agreement on the supply of additional anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) C-400. This was stated by the head of the Turkish Defense Industry Directorate Ismail Demir, reports Bloomberg.
According to Demir, negotiations between Turkey and Russia on the supply of the second regimental set of S-400 air defense systems reached a certain mark and an agreement will soon be signed. In addition, Moscow and Ankara are discussing the joint production of some elements of the anti-aircraft system in Turkey.
Negotiations on Turkey’s acquisition of the second C-400 regiment reached an unattainable mark. The signing of the agreement is just around the corner. After agreeing on the final details, we will sign an agreement regarding co-production, or co-production of certain elements in Turkey
- He said, adding that Russia also offered Turkey the supply of Su-35 fighters "at a certain price."
At the same time, Damir emphasized that Turkey is not afraid that the United States will block the supply of spare parts for American weapons in Turkey.
Previously, the Pentagon announced that they intend to seek from Ankara a complete deliverance from the Russian anti-aircraft system. Otherwise, Washington will completely exclude Turkey from the program of the fifth generation fighter F-35.
