The "lunar" spacecraft "Orel" found "excess weight"
The materials of the RSC Energia say that the spacecraft Orel (formerly “Federation”) under development has a mass that is too high to fly to the moon.
This kind of information publishes RIA Newsreferring to materials from the rocket and space corporation. Recall that it is RSC Energia that is engaged in the development of the Eagle, intended for flights to the Earth’s natural satellite.
The reports noted that the mass exceeds the permissible parameters by almost 2,5 tons. At the same time, the so-called “breakdown of the excess of masses” is published by the individual components of the spacecraft. So, the Orla cable network is heavier than the permissible by more than 200 kg, the life support system of astronauts is by 109 kg, the power plant is by approximately 107 kg, etc.
The experts evaluated and found that with these parameters the Eagle will weigh 22343 kg, although initially the value in 19848 kg was written in the documentation. Such a significant excess of mass (and this is 12,5%) simply will not allow delivering the spacecraft to the planned orbit, since the developers of the rockets (including the superheavy - Yenisei) are guided by those mass parameters that were indicated in the initial technical task.
At the moment, only the parameters of the Angara-A5P launch vehicle are capable of allowing the Orla to enter low Earth orbit. In this case, we are not talking about the delivery of the ship with its “forming” mass to the Moon; we need to work to reduce the mass parameters.
It should be noted that the first launch tests of the "Federation" were scheduled for the 2015 year. Since then, 4 years have passed, and plans have been shifted many times, moreover, it was decided to rename the spaceship, as "there must be a masculine name."
