“Aimed at the Exocet rocket”: Greek Mirage-2000 caught sight of a Turkish frigate
In the Greek segment of social networks appeared photos taken from the fighter Mirage-2000 Greek Air Force. It is reported that a multi-role fighter caught a sight of a frigate of the Turkish naval forces.
It is alleged that the Greek pilot "aimed at the Turkish frigate with an aircraft-based Exocet anti-ship missile." We are talking about a French-made cruise missile, which is in service with the Greek Air Force and Navy in several versions (including AM-39). It must be added that one of the Exocet modifications is in service with the Turkish army.
Pictures of a Turkish warship in the sight of a French-made Greek fighter are posted on Twitter by Ioannis Nikitas, a Greek war correspondent.
It is noted that the Turkish Yavuz class frigate was chosen as the target. This is a frigate with a displacement of about 3 thousand tons, length 110 m, equipped with various types of weapons, including Harpoon missiles.
Ioannis Nikitas:
In the next tweet, the same person, with a rocket photograph, “wishes” “friends” Merry Christmas.
Turkish users responded to a Nikitas tweet with an image marking the radius of action of the S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, hinting that the Mirage-2000 itself at that moment could be an “illuminated” air defense system radar.
The media noted that this photo "indicates a growing level of tension between Greece and Turkey." Recall that both countries are members of NATO.
The Greek authorities expressed dissatisfaction with the Turkish agreements with Libya regarding the development of resources in the Mediterranean Sea.
