Aviation Engineering and Aviation Service celebrates professional holiday
December 7 in our country is celebrated Engineering Dayaviation videoconferencing services. The service itself conducts its history from the 1916 of the year when, in the first aviation units of the Russian Empire participating at that time in the First World War, it was decided to allocate posts of minders. In 1916, motorists were understood to mean specialists who were called upon to provide technical support for the flights of available aviation equipment.
At that time, the Russian imperial air fleet had several aircraft options, among which was the limited fleet of Ilya Muromets bombers (C-22). These are four-engine biplanes with a wooden hull, which was usually called the "whatnot".
Initially, representatives of the manufacturing plant were involved in the troops. For reference: the production of these bombers was engaged in the Russian-Baltic Carriage Works. The main designer was Igor Sikorsky, who, as you know, after the October Revolution emigrated to the United States of America.
In addition to the Ilya Muromets bombers, French Newport aircraft participated in the First World War from the Russian Empire. In order to be able to provide technical support for flights, Russian pilots and technicians completed an internship in France. Then, the representatives of the Newport company themselves noted that the technique of operating fighters of this model can be learned from the Russians, who perfectly mastered the planes. This statement was made after a sad story with the construction of "Newporov" at the Shchetinin plant. We are talking about cases where aircraft were built according to the wrong drawings. Unfortunately, the conclusions in terms of construction and maintenance, as often happens, were made after a series of tragic incidents involving these fighters.
Today, on the shoulders of Russian specialists in the aviation engineering service, an important and responsible mission lies in preparing for the flight of a wide variety of fighter, assault, transport, strategic, and army aircraft. The preparation itself sometimes takes hours, and a combat training operation takes minutes. And the success of the aviation operation as a whole depends on how well the technician completed the task assigned to him.
Military Review congratulates aircraft technicians and aviation engineers on their professional holiday!
