The Libyan Government of National Accord (PNS) intends to publish a list of Russians assisting the Libyan National Army (LNA) Khalifa Haftara, who is leading an attack on the state’s capital, Tripoli. It is reported by the Associated Press.
The head of the Supreme State Council under the PNS, Khaled al-Meshri, said that the government of national consent allegedly has documents proving the presence of Russian fighters in the Libyan territory in the number of 600-800 people fighting on the side of Haftar. According to him, the PNS is currently collecting evidence and will soon submit this list to the Russian authorities.
After we collect all the evidence, we will go to Moscow and hand it over to the authorities. Let's see what they say
- Khaled al-Meshri said, although he didn’t add when this visit will take place and whether it will be allowed to enter Russia at all.
Note that the PNS and US representatives have repeatedly accused Russia of interfering in the internal affairs of Libya and assisting the Libyan national army of Haftar in conducting hostilities. It is stated that not only members of the Wagner PMC, but also "regular military units of Russia" are fighting in Libya.
At the end of November this year, US Assistant Secretary of State for Middle East Affairs David Schenker explicitly accused Russia of "destabilizing the situation in Libya" by deploying Russian regular troops and mercenaries from the Wagner PMC on its territory to support the Libyan national army of Haftar.
