The combat potential of the Black Sea fleet Russia increased significantly after it introduced the Caliber cruise missile launch vehicles into its composition. This was stated by the commander of the Navy of Ukraine Admiral Igor Voronchenko, the press service of the Navy.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Navy, speaking at the International Conference on Maritime Security in Odessa, complained about the significantly increased power of the Russian Black Sea Fleet and the deeply echeloned anti-ship defense of Crimea. According to him, all this has happened over the past five years, when Russia concentrated new ships and submarines with long-range Caliber cruise missiles in the Black Sea.
Over the five years since the 2014 of the year, Russia has significantly increased the combat potential of the Black Sea Fleet and has concentrated in the Black Sea new ships and submarines that carry strike missile weapon such as long-range Caliber cruise missiles. The total salvo of these missiles is 72 units, and by the end of next year it will grow to 168 missiles

At the same time, Voronchenko drew attention to the creation of a deep echelon anti-ship and anti-aircraft defense on the Crimean peninsula, as well as the strengthening of the air component by supplying the latest fighters and bombers.
However, he stressed, Ukraine has something to answer to the increased power of the Russian fleet. To eliminate this “threat”, it is necessary to restore the naval capabilities of the Ukrainian Navy, increase the ship-boat composition and actively cooperate with the United States and NATO.
