At the same time, the military department noted. that the crews of Russian Long-Range Aviation aircraft regularly fly over neutral waters, without entering the airspace of other states.
- declared in the Ministry of Defense.
Earlier, the Ministry of National Defense of South Korea said that six Russian aircraft. namely, two Tu-95MS missile carriers, three Su-35С fighters and one A-50 fighter, entered the South Korean air defense identification zone in the area north of Ullyndo Island in the Sea of Japan. During the patrol, they several times entered this zone and left it, but they did not violate the airspace of the republic.
Meanwhile, Russia has repeatedly informed Seoul that it does not recognize the “air defense recognition zone”, established in the 1951 year and significantly expanded in the 2013, by the South Korean side. It extends far beyond the airspace of the country and, most importantly, is not fixed by international law.
