American patrol boats arrived in Odessa for transfer to the Ukrainian Navy

The American Ocean Freedom container ship with Island class patrol boats (P190 Slavyansk and P191 Starobelsk) arrived for the Ukrainian Navy this morning in Odessa. New items have already been repainted by the sender in gray, and new board numbers and names are also applied in the USA.
An agreement on the transfer of military equipment was reached during the presidency of Petro Poroshenko. Island class boats were owned by the US Coast Guard, which is currently undergoing a large-scale technical upgrade process.
Discarded ships and vessels are sent to US allies around the world, primarily those who find it difficult to maintain order at sea on their own - for financial reasons. In particular, island-class patrol boats received, in addition to Ukraine, the security forces of Georgia, Pakistan and Costa Rica.
Novelties of the Navy carry only light weapons, more characteristic of a border ship than a naval watchman fleet. According to open sources, while serving in the United States Coast Guard, the arsenal of the Island consisted of a 25 mm Mk 38 Bushmaster automatic gun mount and two 12,7 mm M2 Browning machine guns. According to other sources, the armament from the boats was withdrawn.
