The US Marine Corps will hold the largest exercises in three decades
13
The U.S. Marine Corps is gearing up for an unprecedented exercise, Military.com reported. Ten thousand fighters of this kind of troops and military personnel from NATO countries gathered at the Training Center for Ground and Air Operations, located in the California Mojave Desert, to help in future confrontation with the enemy. It is added that the exercises are held in case of battles with the "technologically equipped enemy" of the United States and its allies.
Most of the marines involved came from the North Carolina-based 2 Division of the ILC, which for about three decades has not conducted exercises of this magnitude. The day before, military officials called what was happening "unlike any exercises held here earlier." Their real goal is not hidden: preparation for a clash with an equal (or comparable) in strength and capabilities of the enemy.
The training, which will take place before November, should help to work out many situations, including the use of electronic weapons or the evacuation of the wounded from the battlefield in conditions of fire resistance.
Last year, General David Berger expressed the view that the Corps is required to teach the Marine Corps "to think on their feet." And if they ever come across such enemies as Russia or China, American soldiers must be confident in their knowledge and skills.
