The Kiev authorities continue to act in the patterns set after the Maidan, dealing only with the “ephemeral” results of reforms aimed at erasing the Soviet past. Although, given the deepening collapse in all spheres of the state’s life, it would be reasonable to expect real steps that could change such a deplorable situation.
Following the transition to a new color of berets in the airborne troops, which was made under the previous president, under the new head of state, they decided to completely change the lower level of the table of military ranks. So, the ensigns were “renamed” as the staff sergeants, the senior ensigns into the master sergeants, the foreman became the first sergeant.
On October 17, the Ukrainian parliament 278 voted in favor of a law providing for a change in military ranks. As indicated, this will make it possible to comply with Alliance standards as set out in the STANAG 2116 classification.
At the same time, adjustments were made to the procedure for the payment of monetary allowances with a view to adapting it to the "American system": official salaries were eliminated, and the base for accrual is henceforth the salary according to rank taking into account the length of service. However, one should hardly expect payment for the service in the sizes typical for the USA. European salaries to Ukrainian "master sergeants" and "staff sergeants" are also not "threatened"
