Syrian troops continue to successfully advance in the north of the country. CAA previously entered cities such as Manbij and Rakka. Now - the entrance to new territories. These territories were previously controlled by Kurdish militias.
The night before, the Syrian government army entered one of the largest cities in the north of the country - Kobani (Ain al-Arab), located in the province of Aleppo. Over the past few years, this city has been controlled by Kurdish armed units supported by the so-called American coalition. At the end of the 2014-beginning of the 2015 years, fierce battles broke out between the Kurdish formations and ISIS fighters for Kobani (* a terrorist group banned in Russia). By February 2015, the city came under Kurdish control.
Recall that earlier the Kurds living in the north of Syria reached an agreement with the government of the SAR on the deployment of SAA in the north of the country. At the same time, Turkish troops continued their operation, "Source of Peace." Recep Erdogan has once again stated that this operation is not directed against the Kurds, but against terrorist groups. Ankara considers the Kurdistan Workers Party as one of these.
Erdogan also said that he "does not need Syrian cities, but needs security along the Turkish borders." The Syrian government army is ready to provide security on its own borders, occupying more and more new territories in the northern regions.
Ruptly report from the streets of Kobani, which is considered the key city of Syria near the Turkish border:
One comment stated that the Syrian army was allegedly greeted not by residents of Kobani.
