The Kon-Tiki Project: A Deadly Russian Response to America
In 1969 and 1970, the Norwegian repeated his experience of 20 years ago. This time, on the Ra-II papyrus boat, he successfully marched not in the Pacific, but in the Atlantic Ocean from the shores of Africa to South America.
Perhaps there is not a single country in the world that would possess such detailed and detailed data both on the nature and directions of ocean currents, and on the state of the seabed, like Russia. Back in Soviet times, the number of research vessels in the Soviet civil and naval navy in the tens. The valuable information they received, of course, did not disappear anywhere after the collapse of the Soviet Union, and was at the disposal of Russia.
Of course, sooner or later the Soviets would want to use the ocean currents for military purposes.
The solution, in fact, lay on the surface in a figurative and literal sense: using ocean currents in the immediate vicinity of the US coast, but outside the 200-mile zone, one could launch ships carrying missiles under the guise of peaceful ships, which, if necessary, would launch a sudden and irresistible blow to the most important facilities in America. They would simply drift here, using engines only if necessary.
In addition, the United States is so accustomed to its aggressive offensive strategy that it completely and completely missed the development of an air defense system for its own territory. If the Pentagon remembered missile defense and invested huge sums in its development, then today the United States is completely defenseless against the threat of strikes, for example, drones, cruise missiles or short and medium range ballistic missiles.
The events of September 11 2001 of the year when the air defense of the North American continent completely overslept the blow of terrorists on the towers in New York and the Pentagon, as well as the recent shameful debacle of the American air defense system in Saudi Arabia, speaks as well as possible about this.
How far the Soviets, and then Russia, have advanced in implementing the idea of such floating missile launch pads, is unknown. One retired US military intelligence officer told me that at the beginning of the 90 of the last century, when you could literally buy everything in Russia, he got into his hands a certificate about the Soviet Kon-Tiki project, the essence of which I have already stated above. But before his resignation, my counterpart, wishing to once again look at this document, was surprised to find that it was allegedly destroyed.
It is hard to say why this happened. Either because of negligence, or because of sloppiness. It is quite possible, and I consider it most likely, that Russian military intelligence was involved in this disappearance, which either returned the certificate back or eliminated it, given the extreme importance of the document ...
True, all Soviet proposals for the use of such floating platforms in the 80s of the last century probably remained at the level of assumptions. However, at present in Russia, combat Robots, and this country has achieved considerable success in this area.
My interlocutor from US military intelligence is confident that the Russians had prepared in advance for the US to withdraw from the treaty on short- and medium-range missiles and had prepared a truly murderous response.
While Democrats and Republicans in the United States are engaged in internal disruptions for the country, Russia has brought OBGMP - offshore rocket platforms weapons.
Their idea, like all ingenious, is very simple. And much more efficient and cheaper than the Soviet one.
Launch containers of the Russian Caliber (cruise missiles), Iskander-M (medium-range ballistic missiles) and Onyx (anti-ship missiles) are placed on semi-submersible platforms built with extensive use of stealth technologies that do not travel using ocean currents.
They are in a "sleeping state" and do not require a lot of electricity. They are fully automated, and there are no sailors. They are only waiting for a signal from space to strike their smashing and irresistible blow.
According to my interlocutor, the Russians chose the Sargasso Sea as the position area for attacking the United States.
The borders of its water area are the Atlantic currents: the Gulf Stream in the west, the North Atlantic in the north, the Canary in the east, and the Passatnoe in the south. These currents as a result of their circular closed interaction create a vast zone of the anticyclone, which is the Sargasso Sea. Most importantly, there are never storms in this area with a total area of over 2,5 million square miles. And there is a huge rubbish stain made of plastic and other wastes formed by ocean currents, gradually concentrating garbage thrown into the ocean in one area, which is an excellent disguise for Russian missile launchers.
And only the Russians could probably disguise their launchers as piles of garbage in the Sargasso Sea
Russian President Putin said that “in the case of the deployment of American medium-range missiles in Europe, Russia will be forced to deploy funds that reach both the territories where these missiles will be deployed and the territories where decision-making centers for their use are located (that is, the United States). ” At the same time, the flight time of Russian missiles will be less than the same rate for American missiles, which he estimated at 10-12 minutes.
All Western "analysts" immediately began to eagerly discuss what weapons Russia would hit these centers in the United States. And their worthless fantasy did not go further than a Russian rocket with a nuclear engine such as the Petrel or a torpedo, also with a nuclear engine called the Poseidon.
But these "experts" did not take into account the fact that for these types of weapons the flight time could not make up the exact same 10-12 minutes ... Simply put, Putin puffed Washington, and there wasn’t a single sober-minded reasonable head who understood this would ... Yes, and where does it come from if the US elite is not busy with the country's security, but with the scandals that follow one after the other.
Meanwhile, the distance from the center of the Sargasso Sea to Miami is 720 miles, and to New York - about 900 miles. The preparation time for launching and approaching Russian Iskander missiles will be exactly those very minutes that Putin spoke about.
And in the Pacific, Russia has installed its installations on some of the many shallows or coral reefs that are abundant in the area. They were delivered to these areas secretly with the help of Russian submarines specially adapted for such purposes, or by ordinary ships that secretly unloaded them at night.
One can only guess how now the US armed forces will begin to look for Russian OBGMP in the Sargasso Sea, my counterpart is indignant, who tried many times to warn the Pentagon about the danger using its old connections. But each time the business died out due to bureaucratic delays, or my friend was mistaken for being half-crazy.
In order to literally sift this mass of algae through a sieve and find Russian missiles, not even all the satellites, reconnaissance aircraft and ships of the US Navy will be enough ...
