What will be the Russian fighter of the 6 generation

33
In the near future, the Russian Aerospace Forces will begin to receive serial fifth-generation fighter Su-57. At the same time, work has begun in our country to create the equipment of the next sixth generation, which will have to serve in the distant future. Over the past few years, the 6 generation has been occasionally mentioned in official statements, and the few available information of this kind leads to the appearance of various versions, rumors and speculations.

Appearance of the future

At the level of general discussions, the topic of the sixth generation of Russian fighters was discussed for a long time, but only in 2016 it was raised at the official level. Then the question of further development aviation Technicians commented on the heads of several different organizations. Thanks to this, some of the views of our specialists on the most important issue have become known, which generally remain relevant today.

The most important information about the technical appearance of the new fighter in 2016 was disclosed by the management of the Radio Electronic Technology Concern. At that time, KRET was already engaged in the development of equipment for such an aircraft. Subsequently, other organizations also revealed their views. For example, the other day this topic was touched upon by the State Research Institute of Aviation Systems.

Even in 2016 it became known that the main difference between the 6 generation will be the so-called optional maneuverability - the aircraft can be built with or without a cockpit. Automation will be able to take on the responsibilities of a pilot, although some decisions will still remain with the person.

Manned and unmanned fighters will have to work as part of a "flock" - a mixed unit under human control. Members of such a "flock" will perform different actions aimed at solving a common problem. UAVs will have to take on the most dangerous work, reducing the risks for the pilots.

It is proposed the use of avionics capable of fully interacting with the pilot, given his physical and mental capabilities, position, etc. Thus, the pilot will not be subjected to undue stress, and situational awareness and the composition of the “flock” will depend on his position and task.

KRET offers a new integrated avionics avionics architecture. It provides for the use of a set of electronic blocks, each of which is capable of performing several functions. One such product can operate as a radar, radio station and electronic warfare system, or combine other functions. The presence of a number of multifunctional blocks expands the capabilities of the aircraft electronic warfare, as well as increases its survivability and combat stability.

The expected increase in flight performance was mentioned. New technology will be able to approach hypersonic speeds and show improved altitude. The possibility of limited work in near space is not ruled out. In particular, the appearance of serial anti-satellite air-launched missile systems is possible.

In the 6 generation, special attention is paid to weapons. Fighters will retain the ability to use current bombs and missiles of different classes, but the appearance of new weapons with enhanced characteristics is expected. Development is also possible. weapons "On new physical principles." First of all, issues of laser weapons are being studied.

Various survivability measures are proposed and discussed. For this, it is necessary to improve stealth technologies, develop new models of electronic warfare equipment, etc.

Expected Samples

The current status of work on the topic of 6 generation fighters is unknown. Apparently, Russian enterprises continue to research and search for solutions for the further development of real samples. The construction and testing of experimental equipment are referred to the medium term, but certain versions exist now.

Back in 2016, the commander of the VKS V. Bondarev made an extremely interesting statement. He pointed out that in the course of future modernization, the Su-57 fighter can gain new opportunities and thereby “change the generation”. This machine has a high modernization potential, which will be used in the future with positive results.

In foreign specialized publications, the version according to which the future sixth generation fighter is created as part of the program “Long-Range Interception Advanced Aviation Complex” (PAK DP) is of certain popularity. Its goal is to create a fighter-interceptor to replace the MiG-31, characterized by higher characteristics.

American fighter 6 generation version of USAF ARL

PAK DP (also known as the unofficial MiG-41 index) should show the high flight speed necessary for a quick exit to the missile launch line. He needs a perfect avionics with advanced detection tools and special missile weapons, possibly with increased firing range. The completion of the PAK DP program dates back to the mid-twenties.

The exact characteristics of PAK DP and the technical appearance of such a machine remain unknown. Nevertheless, the announced general information about the project allows us to attribute it, at least, to the modern 5 generation. At the same time, there is room for speculation in the direction of the next sixth generation. Confirm or refute this version until it fails due to lack of information.

In the context of the 6 generation of fighters, one can also consider the promising UAV C-70 "Hunter", which is currently undergoing flight tests. This machine is stealth, equipped with advanced avionics and is capable of carrying various weapons. Some features of the “Hunter” make you recall past statements about the requirements for new generation fighters. We can assume that the C-70 UAV is either the next step on the path to the 6 generation, or its first representative. He may be an unmanned participant in the future "flock."

It is impossible to say with certainty which generation the new samples will belong to. Su-57 after the upgrade can go from the fifth to the sixth; the same applies to the promising PAK DP. The status and prospects of the C-70 Hunter project are also a secret. So far, it’s only clear that work on advanced aviation technology is ongoing, and in the future 6 generation fighters may indeed appear in our country.

Likely opponent

It should be noted that work on sixth generation fighters is being conducted not only in our country. Other developed countries are also working on the future of their aircraft, and the results of such work are expected over the next few years. At the same time, some promising aircraft are already being demonstrated in the form of models.

In the USA, FX / NGAD projects for the Air Force and F / A-XX for the Navy are in the early stages. Their task is to create equipment that meets the general requirements for the 6 generation. The Air Force and Navy want to get manned and unmanned aircraft with enhanced performance and new combat capabilities. Serial production is planned to be launched in the late twenties.

Two projects are being created in Europe at once. France, Germany and Spain are working on the FCAS (Future Combat Air System) project. The shown model of such a machine is distinguished by its characteristic "inconspicuous" contours. Declared special features provided by the future avionics. FCAS will begin in the second half of the thirties.

In the same period, a Tempest fighter of international development may enter service. It is made by several companies from Great Britain, Italy and Sweden, united in a consortium Team Tempest. A mock-up of such a fighter is already being demonstrated, but the expected characteristics and capabilities are basically not specified.

Reserve for the future

Both in our country and abroad, work has already begun on the topic of future generation fighters. At the moment, all such projects are at the stage of theoretical study and the search for basic solutions. The construction and testing of real samples are related to the distant future. Production and operation will begin even later - not earlier than the mid-thirties. Such a technique can remain in service almost until the last decades of the current century.

The groundwork for such results in the future is being created right now. Leading countries are still engaged in theoretical research and show only models. In just a few years, more interesting new products in the form of real samples are waiting for us. Which country is faster to cope with the task, and which plane will be better than others - time will tell. Of the last News it follows that our country may turn out to be a leader in a whole direction.

meeting the general requirements for the 6th generation

What are the requirements for the 6th generation?

with enhanced features and new combat capabilities

Elevated where? What are the possibilities?

I don't understand how the 6th differs from the 5th. Is "flock work" everything? Shove AI into drones and call the "flock" the 6th generation? So this T-50 can already become one as soon as the radar for it is done. In my opinion, this is all work on the 5th generation. Even a hypothetical MiG-41 may not have "invisibility", but will be a continuation of 4 ++. In the same MiG-31, shove new electronics and hang new missiles and, according to requirements, reaches the PAK DP.

The distinguishing characteristics of the 6th I did not understand.

The first American protocols for the exchange between EMNIP aircraft appeared a little earlier, at the beginning of the 70s. A link from the Wiki is better to insert in parts, then there will be no bukoff codes.

Hypersound. Partial work in space. The meaning of fighter generations is that the previous generation is no longer a rival to the new

        Yes, hypersound ...
For which prototypes presented in this article is "hypersound" a real parameter?
How can you talk about the conversion of the T-50 into the 6th generation from the "hypersound" factor?

With a very high probability, PAK DP / Mig-41 is a Mig-31 modernization project. What will he be “5th”? 4+ only

I predict the future for anything.

Now the state of affairs is such that the world has:
    1) A little functional and discontinued F-22, in quantities apparently of the order of 150 pcs.
    2) Flying scrap metal from China using 30 technology years ago.
    3) Weak according to the performance characteristics of the F-35, which, however, are many.
    4) Su-57, which is just going into the series and by 2030 there will be about a hundred of them.

There is no "5th generation" in the world, there is either rubbish or outstanding cars in small quantities. And we are already approaching the technological limit of existing engines.

Electronic filling in the F-35 at least at the level.
Flight characteristics are comparable to the F-18.
They promise great potential for modernization.
And the solution of modification B (lifting fan) is excellent.

Flight characteristics are comparable to the F-18.

Again declarative statements. The penguin has the worst wing loading, which only partially compensates for the better thrust-to-weight ratio. Only the engine allows you to "drag" a belly with more or less acceptable flight characteristics
        1. 0
          26 September 2019 08: 35
The wing load is exactly like that of the completely non-maneuverable F-16))
And this is not the only parameter affecting maneuverability.
About the engine - what is it for? Our Su-35 would also fly much worse with a turbojet engine from the Su-17.

Where do you get this data from all the time? Available angles of attack and odds
the lifting force at these angles is 1,2 times higher for the CX than for the F16 and even more so the F35.
About the engine - what is it for?

Again, write before we comprehend? The thrust-weight ratio makes it possible to compensate for the worst aerodynamic characteristics and KS lag in the maximum pitch angular velocity. And that is only partially. So again, you don’t need to breed your advertising mantras for the glory of the penguins.

All my thoughts, I’m not getting the advertising fee) (who should I contact?)
I said that maneuverability at the F-18 level (worse than the 16th).
You tell me about the load on the wing. I look at the load - it coincides (+/- 20 kg) with the F-16.
And again, there are nuances in the outlines of the glider.
Where did you get such accurate data? Participated in trials?

I said that maneuverability at the F-18 level (worse than the 16th)

I repeat once again - what made you think that the Superhornet’s mobility is worse than the F16 maneuverability? Again, common phrases from the ceiling? I will give an example:
                1. The maximum angular pitch velocity at F18 is 45 º / C versus 34 at F16.
                2. The maximum angle in flight without stall for F18 is 55 °, for F16 it is 34 °
At low speeds and large angles of attack, the F18 will have an advantage. Falcon wins only with an unsteady turn at high speeds (from 800 km / h). But at the same time a restriction on overload is imposed on him. Its only plus in rate of climb.
Apologies for the errors - I am writing from the phone

They will answer symmetrically. Let's compete, whose faster satellites run out?
The United States is not going to attack first, disadvantageously in terms of price and losses.
Another thing if we start. Then they will have to "bite the bit."

Back in 2016, it became known that the so-called. optional maneuverability - the aircraft can be built with or without a cockpit.

    strange decision.
the presence of a person in an airplane leaves a significant imprint on his design, primarily in terms of overload restrictions, as well as on the size of the aircraft. A person can not withstand large overloads, and space for accommodation and additional systems strictly under the pilot requires decently.
Therefore, an unmanned fighter and a manned one should noticeably differ in design from the very beginning.

They would write honestly, they want to do both on the F-35 and F-22. There they just made an "integrated board" - what was previously hung in containers was immediately included in the aircraft avionics
The expected increase in flight performance was mentioned. New technology will be able to approach hypersonic speeds and show improved altitude. The possibility of limited work in near space is not ruled out.

But this strongly resembles the description of the coming communism in the Soviet social science textbook. I remember that I could not understand how it would be "from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs", imagining how each will unfold with the needs smile
But in general, it is still completely unclear what the 6th generation fighter will be like ...

In particular, the sixth generation is a drone and the ability to maneuver with extreme loads for humans.
Without a pilot, it is possible to improve many characteristics of a combat vehicle.

Su-57 will be in the series, at least until the year 2050. The Americans plan to operate the F-35 until the year 2070. In order for a qualitative change of generations to take place, it is necessary to have a large reserve in the development of existing technologies, or fundamentally new technologies. And what do we have now?

    1) Currently, there are no alternatives to existing engines, while the reserves for increasing their power in terms of thermodynamics and heat resistance of the materials used are close to exhaustion.

    2) Currently, electronics is faced with serious problems in increasing its productivity, while very thin technological processes for use in the military-space industry are not very suitable, since such tiny structures are easily destroyed.

Why all these expensive toys that in the event of a real war will be hidden in the caves? We need a cheap and massive aircraft, a modern analogue of the MiG-21 - this is the future for it.
