Will a national idea save us?
Passion on the national idea reached the heights of our analytics. Recently, Sergey Karaganov spoke on this topic: “Russia does not have a national goal, and countries that have lost their goal die, this is evidenced by story. This is a big weakness. ”

Then there was everything: victories and defeats, socialist construction and political repressions, but this idea fulfilled our main mission: with it we defeated Nazi Nazism in 1945, created nuclear and space programs that still ensure Russia's sovereignty.
In 1991, the communist idea collapsed under its own burden, in our opinion, although its supporters have a different opinion on this issue. Here's how to evaluate this idea? She was not indisputable in the 1917 year, but she squeezed her worldview and crushed her bourgeois opponents, she turned out to be utopian, but solved the most difficult issues of protecting and surviving the country in the 20th century. Today it is important for us to keep in mind that the communist idea became national in the course of the acute political struggle in Russia and in the conditions of the global crisis - the First World War.
There were other national ideas in history, in particular, the nationalist right, the antagonists of the international left. The radical nationalist Hitler, together with his party, managed to democratically take power in Germany, in one of the most cultured and educated countries in Europe, and the Nazi ideology of racial and cultural superiority became the national idea of Germany. Morality was officially declared a chimera, and the terror under the slogan "Germany Above All!" Became a daily occurrence. Only at the cost of tremendous efforts was it possible to create an anti-Hitler coalition and defeat this nationalist national idea. Note that the Nazi idea came to power in Germany also in a fierce political struggle, suppressing its leftist communist opponents.
Western countries today speak more about their national interests and certain “democratic values”, national slogan ideas are usually put forward in a journalistic, abstract sense in the form of adherence to “democratic values” of freedom, human rights, and the like, are, in fact, commonplace: “ we are for everything good and against everything bad. " The role of the national idea in the West is really fulfilled by the idea of material well-being, “sausages of thirty varieties,” which is similar to the late Soviet idea of “comprehensively improving the well-being of Soviet people.” In this sense, the philosopher and sociologist A. A. Zinoviev said that the West was offended by Russia for its “barbaric communism” and is building its right market “western communism”, but cannot call it by its real name.
Finally, the idea of world domination may be a national idea. We have long suspected and even sometimes say in the public field that the USA and the West have as their real goal the idea of complete world domination, since leadership and dominance in the world no longer satisfy them. For Russia, China and the whole non-Western world, this will mean neocolonial submission, since the national egoistic interests of the United States and the West remain above all. Actually, this conflict is today the main global contradiction. The non-Western world, led by Russia and China, announces that it is fighting for a multipolar world, but in fact is struggling with the establishment of US world domination.
The recent discovery by American political scientist Allison Graham of allegedly global strategy, and since the time of the ancient Greek historian Thucydides, about hegemonic states and candidate states for hegemony, confirms the US strategy for establishing its full world hegemony. Since it theoretically justifies it, it puts forward the thesis of the inevitable “Thucydides trap”, leading to an allegedly armed random collision of the hegemon with the applicants, that is, it justifies the US war with any state.
From this US strategy, the national goal of Russia, and China, and other non-Western countries naturally follows: to resist the aggressive intentions of the hegemon and to build its multipolar world. In the 2016 year, Russia, according to Karaganov, returned to the category of great powers, ensuring its military and economic security, but they need to be constantly confirmed further. As for the construction of a multipolar world, the horse wasn’t lying around here either.
The above concerns more ideas of foreign policy, but what about the domestic? In this sense, the national idea, if possible, should have an important feature: to be universal, to capture all sectors of society from top to bottom, from state employees to elites, and what could be such an idea? Probably, this and similar technogenic ideas, striking in its scale, are today the lot of only enthusiasts. In this sense, we can agree with Karaganov:
In our opinion, we need ideas on how to all of us survive in an increasingly insane modern global world that is losing not only morality, but also gender! How in this world not to lag behind others and still remain a person, taking an example from Pushkin, about whom Gogol said that, like Pushkin, a Russian would appear, "maybe in two hundred years." This is necessary for everyone: state employees, officials, military and businessmen, it concerns everyone personally, because today everything is under the threat of turning into a faceless “it”.
