US and Belarus decide to restore diplomatic relations in full
According to some reports, the United States of America initiated the return of ambassadors to their jobs. So, according to the deputy head of the US State Department, David Hale, who met with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, “US-Belarus relations are coming historical moment".
Hale said that he was pleased to participate in the mutual process of normalizing relations in full.
Recall that previously in Washington, Alexander Lukashenko was called the “last dictator of Europe”, various sanctions were imposed against Belarus, including sanctions for dispersing inconsistent demonstrations. Many sanctions measures are valid to this day.
Lukashenko at a meeting with Hale noted that Minsk and Washington are cooperating in various fields, but "it isn’t normal when in the modern world two states that once fought on the same side against the enemy today have such weak relations."
Earlier, in May 2019, memorandums were signed between Belarus and the States that open up options for cooperation in several areas, including cooperation between the Sledkom, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Belarusian Border Committee with the Drug Enforcement Agency of the US Department of Justice.
