Russia will help India modernize the three Indian destroyers of the 15 project (such as Delhi) with regard to the Kashmir (Shtil) anti-aircraft missile systems and the Fregat-MAE radar systems. The corresponding agreement was signed by the Indian Ministry of Defense and the Russian Rosoboronexport. This is reported by the bmpd blog.

Russia will help India to modernize the destroyers of the 15 project (such as Delhi)

Russian specialists will modernize the Kashmir (Calm) anti-aircraft missile systems and the Frigate-MAE radar systems. According to available information, all work will be carried out in India with the involvement of local industry, which should supply components for the work. In total, the modernization will affect the three destroyers of the 15 project, which were designed in the 80 of the last century with the help of designers from the Northern Design Bureau. These ships have almost entirely Russian weapons and equipment.

It is assumed that during the modernization, the Frigate-MAE installed on board the radar ships will be replaced by the Frigate-M2EM three-coordinate radar station. In addition, the ships will be equipped with a more modern air defense system "Calm-1."

Currently, the Indian Navy has three missile destroyers of this class: Delhi, Mysore and Mumbai. The lead destroyer of Project 15 D61 Delhi was laid down at the Indian shipyard Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) in Mumbai in December 1992 and delivered to the Indian the fleet in 1997, and two other ships (D60 Maysor and D62 Mumbai) became part of the Indian Navy in 1999 and 2001, respectively.

Displacement of ships - 6200 tons, hull length - 163 meters, width - 17 meters. They reach speeds of up to 32 knots and a cruising range of 4500 nautical miles. Crew - 350 people.

And they will be able to operate a similar technique?
Or how about a leased nuclear submarine? .. Fire in the compartment and that’s all - with things to exit ..
Fortunately, that stood near the pier ...

The question is of course complicated .......
Ultimately - EVERYTHING is decided not by the technique, but by PEOPLE who are by this technique manage!

Well, the ships survived until today. There they will simply update the posts + put a new version of the same radar + remove the beam with the drum (well, it didn’t look very much at the end of the 80's) and put the VPU on the 24 of the Shtil mine. Similar to the third four 11356 for India.

That Pakistan is about to receive the first frigates 054AP. There are 32 ZURKI of the same complex.

Also in Shanghai, the still obscure 052D / E is under construction. He 157m - that is, the option already discontinued and all ships for the PLA of this series are afloat. And from the first shots, they used to say that this is a quiet order for Pakistan.

Not really. Only 78-82 order programs of the year. For then MK41 was not yet ready.

He was baptized in 1981 and was tested until January 1983.

The final one was laid in the 1982 year - launched in the 85, delivered in June 1987 of the year

From 83 to 87, 5 cruisers with 2хМК26 were introduced

At the same time, the head BunkerHill with MK41 began to be built in 82, baptized in 85 and surrendered to the fleet of 20 on September 1986.

The next serial Mobile Bay - they also lowered the 85 year and surrendered the fleet in February 1987 of the year.

The next serial Antietam - lowered to 86 and passed a couple of days earlier than Thomas Gates (final program with 2xMK26)

In total, by the end of the program with the 2xMK26 in June 1987, the latest cruisers with the MK3 were built and included in the 41 fleet.

Not expensive and complicated, will you get such a sufficiently deep conversion, especially in India? The clumsy hands of their kulibins

It is extremely difficult to do this on the BOD Project 61. since on them is another air defense system - "Volna". This means that it is necessary to change the launcher, radar, combat posts, draw new routes, and possibly redesign the internal volumes of the ship. The game is not worth the candle.

But at the same time pr.15 in front of you in all its glory! Take a closer look at the photo! 15 the project is a derivative of the destroyer type Delhi, and Delhi grew out of Project 61E ... the Northern PKB tried very hard ... by the way, there are a lot of 951 projects there.

        So you need to change

The Indians themselves were already building them, according to our drawings!

      SAM "Barak" is already there.
"In the process of modernization (2003-2006), Israeli air defense systems" Barak "were installed. Two AK-630 and MR-123-02 AUs on these ships were dismantled, instead of them 4 vertical launch modules for 8 missiles each and EL fire control radars were installed / M-2221 [3] The EL / M-2221 radar simultaneously performs fire control functions for the two remaining AK-630 gun mounts.

Helping is of course great, just the question: who will help us with their destroyers and build other ships? And then for nearly a decade we are building one ship.

Historical background - The cruiser Varyag would be built in the States. The question is when ships are needed, if we cannot saturate the fleet with them, then it’s worth buying. In India or in China. Especially on the domestic project.
