Algeria bought a large batch of Russian fighters

The Algerian Air Force will soon replenish with new Russian fighters. As it became known, Russia and Algeria signed contracts for the purchase of multi-functional heavy fighter Su-30MKI (A) and light MiG-29M / M2. This was reported by Vedomosti with reference to a military-diplomatic source.

Algeria bought a large batch of Russian fighters

According to available information, Algeria ordered 16 Su-30MKI (A) fighters and 14 MiG-29M / M2 fighters, the fact of signing the contracts is confirmed by the military department. The total cost of delivery of the aircraft themselves is about 1,8 billion dollars, and taking into account additional equipment and armaments to them, exceeds 2 billion.

The interlocutor of the newspaper said that this Russian-Algerian agreement has become "landmark", as it is the first contract concluded between Moscow and Algeria after the resignation of President and Minister of Defense Abdel-Aziz Boutefliki in the spring of 2019.

It is noted that Algeria is a traditional customer of Soviet / Russian aircraft. With the supply of Su-30MKI fighters (A), the Algerian Air Force will significantly expand the fleet of aircraft in service. Since 2007, the Algerian Air Force received 58 Su-30 fighters. At the same time, the light MiG-29M / M2 are intended to partially replace the fleet of already obsolete Soviet-made MiG-29 fighters, delivered at the beginning of the 2000 from Ukraine and Belarus.

The good news is that Algeria is always calculated with "live money". If only it didn't work out with the MiG-29, like the last time Algeria returned the entire delivered batch of the same aircraft.

I agree, most importantly, that Mig seized the chance. What Sukhoi will deliver on time, I have no doubt. Why, after all, is not the MiG-35 interesting? For the sake of advertising, it was possible to give a commensurate discount for the sake of advertising ..

      But in general, great news!

        Certainly.

It is good that Algeria was not afraid of US sanctions for the purchase of Russian equipment. This is very difficult.

Now he would have to withstand their pressure until payment and delivery of equipment.

They should not be afraid of American sanctions, but European ones, because Algeria keeps its "loot" in European banks.

Because the MiG-29M2 and the MiG-35 are one and the same. The confusion arose from PR. Initially, the "export" names were M / M2, then they decided to play on something "new" and began to promote the MiG-35 as an export name, then they decided to abandon the M / M2 altogether, so as not to confuse the customer, but apparently what played here they went to Egypt with the name M / M2.

MiG-29M2 like with a single cabin, unlike the MiG-35.

I think the contract for the MiG-35 is not far off. First, the new Mig should "show" itself a little and go into service with the Russian Aerospace Forces, they will definitely look at it and buy it. Algeria is our traditional customer.

Most likely here they just bought the "Egyptian version". As you know, India also began to look closely at the Egyptian sides, after the start of deliveries. I think that while they will sell M / M2 in the Egyptian configuration. And then the final version of the MiG-35 was put on the market, with AFAR and changes in the airframe. As you know, there was a model of the MiG-35 with differences at MAKS. It seems that he was first put forward for a tender in India, and then further.

I remembered something for Algeria: when I was studying, we had a drilling equipment instructor. He worked on drilling rigs in the Algerian Sahara in the 60s. He told me that the party organizer (well, where can we go without them, they are even needed there) made a shield on which he wrote down the results of the "Social competition" between the drilling crews on sinking. Well there, 1st place, 2nd, etc. And then the local bourgeois arrived, the owner of this oil "happiness". I looked at this shield and asked: "What is it?" The party organizer replies: "Here is the 1st place - these are the best, 2nd - these are worse, etc." The bourgeois says: "Please send me from the Union the same ones who are in first place, and send the rest back to the Union, I don't need lazy people here." After he left, the party organizer personally hacked this shield into pieces with an ax. lol

MiG-29 will still fly to Algeria. But Su-32, it seems, is no longer there.

Yes, earlier, in past years, there was news that Algeria was eyeing the Su-34. Apparently, they decided that the multifunctional Su-30MKA would be enough for them to work on the ground.

Well, NAPO is more sad. Su-34 did not sign a new contract at MAX. Su-34M = business of future years. For 2020 year - the enterprise will stand idle for the most part workshops.

For loading only kits for SSZH-100 + foggy kapitalka Su-34 (however, again they do not need 2 / 3 plant and workers).

Yeah ... But what then decided to replace the fleet of front-line bombers Su-24? Irkutsk Su-30?
