Over 150 aircraft evacuated from air bases in eastern US

The US Air Force Press Service reports on the most ambitious evacuation of military equipment from the east coast. This is due to Hurricane Dorian, which is rampant on islands in the Caribbean and threatens the southeast of the United States.

Over 150 aircraft evacuated from air bases in eastern US

The commander of the 1 th fighter wing of the US Air Force, David Lopez, said that inland, it was decided to deploy more than one and a half hundred aircraft. Among the farther away from the hurricane are fifth-generation fighters F-22 Raptor. The transfer is conducted from the joint Langley-Justis Air Force Base (South Carolina), Moody and Robins Air Base (Georgia), Seymour Johnson Air Base (North Carolina).

The temporary location of the aircraft will be the Rickenbacker base in Ohio. This airbase belongs to the US National Guard. It is planned that the transfer of all funds aviation, including unmanned aerial vehicles, will end on September 7th.

The evacuation is due to the fact that previously the military in the United States has already faced the consequences of hurricanes. One of the airbases cannot be restored until now. Among the consequences of the disaster that raged in the United States several months ago are dozens of damaged combat aircraft. We are talking about Hurricane Michael and the Tyndall Air Base in Florida.

What other planes are moving deep into the United States? This is the F-16CM Fighting Falcon, E-8C, A-10 Thunderbolt II, T-38 Talon.

Meanwhile, the question arose in the USA: why did the command decide not to evacuate the airbases immediately, but on the days when the hurricane could already fall on the east coast? The command said that "at first the forecast was moderate, but now it has worsened, as Dorian continues to increase its power." It has been added that bases for receiving aircraft from the southeastern United States have already been prepared for this.

It is noted that pilots are evacuated along with their families, if they themselves wish.

And here are the problems with fleet evacuation:

Rear Admiral Don D. Gabrielson, head of the US Navy and 4th Fleet Southern Command, said: "Our top priority is always the safety of our ships and aircraft, as well as our sailors and their families." And he announced an urgent evacuation from the dangerous area.

They went to safe north at full speed: USS Shamal (PC 13), USS Lassen (DDG 82), USS Paul Ignatius (DDG 117), USS Farragut (DDG 99), USS Billings (LCS 15), USS Milwaukee (LCS 15) and many other ships.

For various reasons, the technical and personnel properties of their example Mayport-based Mayport cannot follow: USS Fort McHenry (LSD 43), USS Roosevelt (DDG 80), USS Detroit (LCS 7), USS Little Rock (LCS 9), USS Hue City (CG 66), USS The Sullivans (DDG 68), USS Thomas Hudner ( DDG 116) and USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), which will take maximum additional security measures to avoid a second Pearl Harbor.

But the problems with the evacuation

      Greetings! Sergei,
the question is not within the framework of this topic, but there is no one else to ask (and you, a person, of course, are competent).
somewhere, out of the ear, I heard about American teachings on the hidden movement of military contingents disguised as civilians.
Is there information on these exercises? can the link to the article?

Greetings, Lavrentiy. There were exercises in the past and this year in eastern Europe. They recruited Russian-speaking immigrants who imitated civilians at the training grounds. The legend of the teachings is the liberation of Russian-speaking villages.
But they were released in military uniform and on military equipment and no one disguised as a peaceful people.

You will not joke with nature and you will not announce its sanctions. It remains only to minimize the possible consequences of a hurricane.

    Why do hurricanes have names?
    1. +7
      6 September 2019 10: 12
Hurricanes are usually given names. This is done so as not to confuse them, especially when several tropical cyclones operate in the same region of the world, so that there are no misunderstandings when forecasting the weather, and in the issuance of storm alerts and warnings.

For the hurricanes of the Atlantic basin, there are 6 alphabetical lists, each of 21 names that are used for 6 consecutive years, and then repeated. If there are more than 21 Atlantic hurricanes in a year, the Greek alphabet will come into play.
If the typhoon is particularly destructive, the name assigned to it is deleted from the list and replaced by another. So the name Katrina is forever deleted from the list of meteorologists. According to the Associated Press, the name Irene was forever removed from the list of hurricane names. In August 2011, Irene crossed the Caribbean Sea, killing three people in Haiti, five in the Dominican Republic, and 41 in the United States. The damage from Hurricane Irene was estimated at $ 15 billion. By the decision of the National Center for the Study of Hurricanes Iren in the list of names will be replaced by a new name - Irma.

In the northwestern part of the Pacific Ocean, the names of animals, flowers, trees, and even products are stored for typhoons: Nakri, Yufung, Kanmuri, Kopu. The Japanese refused to give female names to the deadly typhoons, because women are considered to be gentle and quiet creatures there. And tropical cyclones of the north of the Indian Ocean remain nameless.
