Syrian special forces completed mopping Khan Sheikhun
16
The Syrian army completed the operation to gain control of the Hama-Idlib highway in the Khan Sheikhun area.
Control over this transport artery is carried out after the Syrian government forces take a key height in the area - the Talat al-Nimr Uplands. This height allows you to control several tens of square kilometers of the territory north of Khan Sheikhun and completely block the possibility of militants coming from this direction to the city.
It is also known that in Khan Sheikhun, special forces of government troops completed an operation to clean up the city’s quarters from militants who tried to resist. In addition, work was completed on the clearance of the northern quarters of the city, which were the last to come under the full control of the CAA.
At the same time, reports are coming from Ankara that the Turkish army intends to strengthen its observation posts in the Syrian province of Idlib. On the eve of the Syrian authorities noted that the Turks in the observation post Morek to pass their convoy, it is necessary to coordinate actions with the SAA and the Russian military. In Ankara, such a statement provoked outrage that it was not a question of Syrian territory, but of territory belonging to Turkey.
According to the latest information, a convoy of military equipment was sent from Turkey to Maaret al-Nuuman (a city in the province of Idlib). This information is published by both Turkish media and websites controlled by militants. The militants no longer hide the fact that they hope for Turkish military assistance.
Turkish Anadolu News Agency:
Turkey has deployed additional armored vehicles, military personnel and vehicles with ammunition to the de-escalation zone in northwestern Syria (Idlib).
