Canadian Foreign Minister: Russia may return to G8 by surrendering Crimea
Foreign Minister of Canada Hristia Freeland decided to express her opinion on this matter. Today her statement appeared on the front pages of Ukrainian newspapers, and in Kiev they called Freeland "Ukraine’s great friend." According to the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, she would be "very glad" to see "Russia returning to the club of decent member countries that do not violate international law."
At the same time, it’s a pity that Freeland didn’t specify who exactly in G7 today is “decent” - maybe the same Canada that sent its planes to bomb Libya, despite the announcement by the UN Security Council of a no-fly zone over this country. Perhaps we are talking about the United States and Britain, which, incidentally, was not without the help of Canada, tore the Balkans, violating international law while artificially tearing the edge of Kosovo from Serbia? Or maybe it’s Japan, which still can’t recognize the results of the Second World War, in which it suffered a crushing defeat, and continues to try to revise these results? ..
Freeland further stated that the conditions for Russia’s return to G7 (G8) are “very simple”:
Meanwhile, the official representative of the White House of the United States, commenting on the question of journalists about the possibility of Russia returning to the Big Seven (Eight), noted that he did not know how unambiguously one could talk about it, because Russia itself had not asked anyone for such a return. At the same time, the representative of the Trump administration added that the issue of the return of Russia will be discussed at the G7 summit in France.
