Iran has created an analogue of the Russian anti-aircraft missile system S-300. Tehran officially announced the completion of the creation of the Bavar-373 air defense system. It is reported by the Iranian news agency IRNA with reference to the Ministry of Defense of Iran.
Iran has completed the creation of the Bavar-373 domestic long-range anti-aircraft missile system (Symbol of Faith - 373). According to Brigadier General Kassem Takizade, the presentation of the air defense system will be held on August 22 during the celebration of Iran’s Defense Industry Day. Before this, the complex went through a series of tests that confirmed the characteristics laid down in it.
Tehran said that although the new anti-aircraft complex is considered to be an analogue of the Russian C-300 in terms of range of detection of targets and their destruction, it is very different from both Russian and American air defense systems in terms of launcher, radar and missiles. The complex is located on the Zafar truck chassis and is equipped with a phased array radar, like the Russian 96L6. The missile of the complex is "completely Iranian," the agency writes.
According to data provided by the Iranian side, the new Bavar-373 complex can hit targets at an altitude of up to 27 kilometers, the radius of the air defense system is 200 kilometers.
The Iranian military announced in February 300 of the development of its own air defense system, "not inferior in its capabilities to the Russian S-2010 complex".
