Experts talk about the Russian-Iranian coalition against US actions
5
The events of recent months, such as Washington’s imposition of sanctions on Iranian oil exports, the US withdrawing from a deal on Iran’s nuclear program, and the bombings of tankers in the Persian Gulf, suggest a new level of political crisis between Washington and Tehran.
But pressure on Iran cannot last forever, and Tehran makes a retaliatory move, turning on the offensive. And in this, Russia helps him to some extent, at least that is how some experts are considered.
The other day, Iranian Defense Minister Hussein Dehkan said that before the end of this year, joint Russian-Iranian military exercises will be held in the northern Indian Ocean, in the Strait of Hormuz, strategically important for the traffic of oil ships. If the exercises take place, this will be the first time that Russia and Iran carry out large-scale maneuvers at sea, and not in the Caspian. According to international observer Nikita Komarov, the main thing is that all this happens during the political crisis around Iran.
Is it possible in this case to talk about the strong support of Moscow for its ally in the Middle East, to consider the emergence of the Russian-Iranian coalition against US actions to be real? Why did the Kremlin move from diplomatic support and all condemnation of Washington’s actions to the expression of its principled position? What role does Russia intend to play in the development of events around Iran? The answers to these and other questions are presented in the video:
