In Crimea, created a separate squadron of UAVs "Outpost"
A separate Forpost UAV squadron became part of the 318th mixed aviation regiment as early as this spring, the Defense Ministry said. The main task of the squadron is to lead aviation reconnaissance and give target designation to coastal missile systems, artillery and warships. UAVs have already participated in the recent exercises of the Black Sea Fleet in the Black Sea, their use was recognized as successful.
At the headquarters of the Black Sea fleet stated that with the help of these drones, a significant part of the Black Sea is controlled with the possibility of transmitting target designations for X-35 anti-ship missiles, ship Caliber, coastal artillery and missile systems. Currently, the Forpost UAV is in service with the squadron, but a modernized version, Forpost-M, is expected to arrive soon.
To date, Forpost drones are assembled entirely from Russian parts. The basis for this UAV was the Israeli Searcher 2. The decision to start its licensed production at the plant in Yekaterinburg was made under Defense Minister Serdyukov. Initially, the drones were assembled from kits supplied by Israel. Since 2012, the specialists of OJSC "RTI Systems" have been engaged in the localization of production drone and the gradual introduction of Russian components. It was reported that the first completely Russian drones will begin to enter the troops from the beginning of 2019. At the same time, it was announced the creation of a modernized version of Forpost-M with an increased flight range, taking into account the experience of using it in Syria.
Outpost is designed to solve reconnaissance missions, as well as to adjust artillery fire. The dimensions and carrying capacity of this UAV make it possible to carry powerful optoelectronic equipment, as well as a substantial fuel supply. The presence of conventional and infrared cameras makes it possible to conduct surveillance at any time of the day. The UAV is equipped with an economical piston engine, which allows you to stay in the air for up to 17 hours. The radius of the drone is about 250 km, flight altitude - 5 km.
One Outpost unmanned system includes three aircraft and a ground control station.
