It became known about future plans for the AC-31 deep-sea vehicle (according to other sources, AC-12) Losharik.

The dates for the start of repair and restoration of the Losharik apparatus

At the enterprise "Zvezdochka"

Recall, we are talking about the apparatus on which the fire occurred during the test. The July 1 accident on board the device resulted in the death of 14 submarine officers.

According to the latest information, restoration work at Losharik is planned to begin this fall. To repair the deep-sea apparatus, they plan to use the capacities of the Zvyozdochka Ship Repair Center. This was reported by TASS news agency, citing a source in the industry.

The material says that the first stage of the restoration work will be water pumping and fault detection of the titanium case and interior. Only after that, specialists will draw up the terms of reference for the repair and restoration work.

The same material notes that Losharik suffered substantial damage. So, it was reported that fire damaged all electronic equipment, automation, acoustic and navigation systems. Subject to replacement crew life support system. Even the titanium case suffered, which, as already noted, remains to be examined for the elimination of defects.

According to some reports, Sevmash is preparing to start manufacturing new Losharik titanium elements to replace those whose damage during defectoscopy will be identified as irreparable.

Well, depending on how much repair work remains to be done.

If you decide to restore, then it is not easier to make a new one.

Well yes. Of course you know better from the sofa.
But where does such knowledge come from, which is simpler and what is not simpler?

I am not an expert in such a thing .. but I also do not understand what can be repaired after a fire lasting several hours ??

And it’s always hard to restore the destroyed. After all, it is still necessary to remove that which cannot be restored. And this is very difficult, especially in a confined space

Unlike you, I imagine. Especially what happens to metals after a fire in a confined space. Where is the guarantee that it will not burst at a depth?

Good question. By the way, why not make a stand for submarines with a pool for testing the depth of immersion? Create pressure with the help of punches, make the pool casing of steel and concrete, and so on? In the event of an accident, the boat would not die with the crew. Dangerous pressure could be quickly relieved. In addition, a huge amount of additional measuring equipment could be placed in this pool for more thorough experiments.

The stand is expensive to build. And the equipment you need may not be very affordable - sanctions. And the accident during full-scale tests maybe did not happen.
By the way, how was it with the Soviet lunar program? The Americans drove all the stages of the carrier on the stands, there was all sorts of things - both failures and engines exploded, but then the Saturns worked all the launches without serious bugs. In our country, by tradition, they tested the launch of a finished "product", and all three times the failure of the first stage ruined the entire rocket worth millions of rubles.

Gee-gee)))) Already with 120% uptime. After two failed trials with humans and the moon. And most importantly - how they worked out the re-fitting of the landing module in a vacuum and the lunar conditions simulated! Well, yes, what’s there - everything is visible through a telescope)

that the first stage of the restoration work will be the pumping of water and the defect of the titanium case and the interior.

as already noted, remains to be studied for the elimination of defects.

"Losharik" - lost. We "optimized" the accumulators, as well as "optimized" the backup power supply on the PD-50 - now repairs with an unpredictable end date.

Our optimization is everything. And I must say, we have not optimized everything yet.
If we recall the largest man-made disaster in terms of the number of victims in Bhopal (India), then the project of that ill-fated chemical plant included four! independent protection systems in case of chemical leakage. And they have all been consistently "optimized" by the owners.
How is it? The boat (not the one that drowned or, as in this case, burned out, but the one in which we all), firstly, cannot be rocked, as some try here, and secondly, if the boat is overloaded, then the excess cargo and any unnecessary passengers overboard.

The optimizers hope to transfer to another boat. And what will happen to this - they are not blue-blooded.

Potato (Antokha), Narak-zempo, dear, "dear Russians" and "scoops" for some reason have not forgotten Krylov, not "grandfather" who translated the fables, but Alexei Nikolaevich. Even the institute was named after him, with a swimming pool, which for some reason was called not a spa, but an experimental one. And one of the nuclear submarines of pr.667A "Zvezdochka" was redrawn 2 (two) times. The project was called "Axon" and "Axon-2", please take some time and google it.

An experimental pool is kind of like from another opera. Driveability check, the nature of the flow around the buildings, well, there is an excitement to simulate more. And all this on large-scale layouts. Not?
