Alfa veterans talk about the work of special forces
5
“Alpha” is often called the special forces elite. She has dozens of special operations, saving the lives of hundreds of people in all conditions and circumstances.
For a long time, a special unit "A" for the suppression of terrorist and sabotage actions was one of the most secret structures of the KGB of the USSR. In the 1974 year, after several attempts by terrorists to hijack airplanes in the USSR, the Soviet leadership decided to create a special KGB unit to combat terrorism. 29 July 1974, the chairman of the KGB, Yuri Andropov, signed an order to establish Group A as part of the 7 administration of the USSR KGB. Its main task was the fight against terrorism.
Today, “Alpha” is known all over the world. Her motto is “Win and Return,” and this principle has been in effect for 45 years.
In what combat operations did Alpha employees show their professionalism? How did Alpha ensure the safety of guests of the summer Olympics in the USSR in 1980? How was the very first selection in group "A"? What are the requirements for the soldiers of the legendary special forces? This and many other things are remembered by veterans of the “A” department of the CSF FSB of Russia, who this year celebrates its 45 anniversary.
