Oshkosh M-ATV armored vehicle could not resist the Hussite machine-gun fire

39
Yemen Hussites again demonstrated the successful results of local combat activity. The goal of one of the Hussite groups in Yemen was the American-made Oshkosh M-ATV wheeled armored vehicle developed by the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) program. The estimated cost of this armored car, which the United States plans to finally replace the HMMWV ("Humvee"), is about 450 thousand dollars.

Oshkosh M-ATV armored vehicle could not resist the Hussite machine-gun fire

"Oshkosh" of the armed forces of Saudi Arabia, invading the territory of Yemen, according to some reports, was ambushed. In social networks, it is reported that the Saudi crew of the armored car simply abandoned military equipment. By the way, this is not the first time that Saudi soldiers abandon armored vehicles. Saudis previously threw Tanks "Abrams", who after the attack from the Hussites remained working engines.

However, other sources claim that the entire crew died.

"Actors" in the video claim that the armored vehicle was hit using large-caliber machine guns. Visible traces of bullets, including on bulletproof glass. And this is another case when Oshkosh did not stand up against machine-gun fire. In this regard, a new question arises on the level of security of Oshkosh, sold by the United States in addition to Saudi Arabia to a number of countries, including Uzbekistan, Poland, the United Arab Emirates, etc.

It is noteworthy that representatives of the Houthit group do not even try to fully use the Oshkosh M-ATV as a trophy (with the exception of recovered ammunition). They pour gas on the car and set it on fire. After some time, the flame covers the entire inner space of the armored vehicle, from where thick black smoke begins to fall.

      The strong impression is that she was simply abandoned due to the fact that the car was stuck. And the shooting was conducted on an already abandoned car, the windows were checked.
      Therefore, by the way, they did not begin to use the trophy - while the run away behind the tractor, the Saudis can return for the machine

        Interesting data on the Syrian war.
        It became known about the massive losses in the armored forces of Syria. According to information provided by the portal Lost Armor, the Syrian military suffered massive losses in the country's armored forces. Since the start of the military conflict in this country, 2393 armored vehicles, including six Russian-made T-90 tanks, were lost in the fighting.

        According to the presented infographics, the greatest losses of the Syrian armored forces were recorded in 2012 and 2013, after which, every year the Syrian military lost several hundred units of armored vehicles.

        2011 year - 20 combat vehicles;
        2012 year - 518 combat vehicles;
        2013 year - 501 combat vehicle;
        2014 year - 346 combat vehicles;
        2015 year - 294 combat vehicles;
        2016 of the year - 314 fighting vehicles;
        2017 year - 248 combat vehicles;

          Even 6 knocked out T 90 and what not 60 dreamer. Four tanks were lost from the T-90 Syrian party, not six. At what one of the four T-90s was destroyed by the airborne forces when it was captured by Igilovites. The irretrievable loss of the T-90, in fact, two tanks. The other 2 were just hit and later repaired. Source to the studio! And I found the source of Lost Armor.
          This is not about irretrievable losses, but about wrecked cars. For this reason, do not be surprised at the number of wrecked tanks. Nobody canceled the possibility of repairing military equipment. Many tanks were hit several times !!!

        Exactly the same opinion. Honestly, you can't even see through glass breaks and you can't see hits on the body. So, apparently they got stuck, saw the Houthis approaching, abandoned the car and "quickly retreated", most likely in another patrol car. And the Hussites were simply shot at the windows with an AK and burned the car, after having robbed it well

          Everything can be. Including low combat stability of the crew. Caught fire, panicked, drove the car managed to drive into a ditch, and then just fled.
          While running behind the tractor .... a hundred times haha. Pay attention to how the car is set on fire. Something there sprays fuel on the armor. Well, at least they guessed to set fire to the inside, things never got to the wheels. Those. no technical training.

            Traces of bullets only on the glass. Moreover, the caliber is clearly automatic. Nevertheless, I think, for the sake of indulgence, they decided to check the resistance of bulletproof glass, then they burned it.

        All at once signed up as experts, they say "the car is not punched" ...
        1. There are no end-to-end traces of bullets from small arms or shrapnel on the windshields, but the "turret" clearly got stronger;
        2. The car drove into a ditch probably due to shelling, and not by itself;
        3. The last shot shows the left side of the car, which is clearly not all right. We do not know where the shelling came from and where the penetration was. It could well be that the "capsule" survived, but the "units", less armored, did not.

          Let's do it, if it was really fired at by the DShK, then there would be no bullet marks on the "turret". Only by chance.
          If shooting, and even with such accuracy, there would be corpses. The crew would not be allowed to leave at such a short distance.
          So it is possible to drive a machine with quality only with fully working units and assemblies.

        An armored personnel carrier is to be planted like that - it is necessary to try. I mean, that it is necessary to fight and move using standard equipment, and there will be military happiness. And where are all kinds of ARVs? Unclear. And if reconnaissance (they are not given AREMs), then why not using equipment specially designed for this? What, the Saudis on BRM have no money? laughing

        Even if there was a penetration, something suggests that these machines are not designed to withstand 12,7 mm and their path, like the typhoon 4x4, airborne forces, -63968, is to protect the maximum from armor-piercing 7,62.

      Oshkosh has the 2nd class STANAG 4569. And these are armor-piercing 7.62x39.
      So if pierced (which is not visible due to the quality of the video), then something more powerful, for which Oshkosh's protection is not designed.
      It seems that the Saudis gave sneakers right after shelling, as soon as the bullets began to slam the car.

      Emergency lights blink on the car, and the barmalei themselves are hasty and restless, probably the shootout happened recently and they themselves don’t know if she will have a continuation, that's why they doused and set fire to a valuable trophy. And so the blood is not visible, the bodies of the dead are not visible, the through holes are not visible, the Saudis who probably were ambushed panicked from the knock of bullet hits, drowned the gas pedal and flew into the ditch, after which they continued their search for adventure on their feet.

            Why light infantry a burden in the form of equipment? Also so noticeable. If they need to drive up, they use a civilian truck or pickup truck. Also try to pull out the GPS tracker, and if not, if you wish, at any second you can set where it rides and punish from the air. Well and most importantly, where to get the fuel on it. Repair how? How to stupidly pull it out of there - until the planes arrived?

            Actually, the success of the Husits' actions is based on the use of light infantry, knowledge of the terrain and strikes / ambushes in the most advantageous and unexpected places. Well, and the complete absence of darling from the enemy.

      In the video, at least one machine of the Oshkosh M-ATV type, but the video was mounted from two different pieces. The first car was abandoned by the crew and had to be set on fire. The second half says:
      1 car was blown up, vomited armored doors
      2 In a different way, the smoke screen system is charged (in the first video out of 8, 3 is charged, in the second all 8 are empty)
      3 In the second video, a hefty green bush appears in front of the car, and on the first there was a balcony
      4 In the second video, during the explosion, the hood broke off, in the first it is present
      5 The second video does not show a shot frontal
