Geographical statistics of wars and armed conflicts of the 21st century

12
In the first nineteen years of the 21st century, armed conflicts continued in the world, which began in the last century. Also, new hotbeds of tension have emerged, either overgrown into full-scale wars, or having had time to go out, but smoldering without visible ways to resolve them. Unfortunately, we have to talk about the recurrence of conflicts of the last century.

It seems to us interesting to clarify the geography of contemporary conflicts in order to reveal their location relative to the Russian borders, as well as the impact on the formation of migration flows, including illegal migration.

Not only conflicts that caused a great resonance throughout the world, but also those with or having a local character, about which little is known to the “world community”, will be named here. We leave outside the scope of the study internal political conflicts, for the resolution of which only law enforcement forces were involved, and which did not entail military actions, or those internal conflicts whose participants did not pursue political goals.

In the XXI century. Armed conflicts have occurred in the following regions of the planet: Europe, Transcaucasia, North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia. Wars and conflicts in these regions are listed in chronological order. The second Chechen war is not mentioned, since its active phase ended in 2000. Anti-terrorist operations are also not called.

Dear Boozer, according to Russian geographical science and Russian oriental studies, Sudan and Egypt are the Middle East (see BDT https://bigenc.ru/geography/text/1873301). Of course, both countries are located in Africa. You are confusing continents and politico-geographical regions.

Not quite correct data. In DRC, Mali and Somalia, the war is actually still ongoing. Not in the list of Angola, Colombia, Mexico, Philippines, Niger. There, of course, the intensity of the conflict is low, but periodically hostilities are conducted.

Dear Sergey 1987, here we are not talking about terrorist acts and anti-terrorist operations, as I say in the text. In addition, active phases of conflicts are taken into account: if, after concluding any agreements, some bursts occur, then this is no reason to include settled conflicts in the above list as continuing. Moreover, one does not have to talk about the drug war in Mexico.

Military conflicts in the colonies are simply necessary for modern colonialists to maintain dependence and obedience.
There are no military conflicts in the territories of developed countries. Only in 3rd world countries. Such a pattern.
Centuries pass, centuries change, but the policy of the colonialists (divide and conquer) is not.

As far as I remember, in terms of a thousand people, the number of violent deaths on the planet is constant. If people stop dying in Africa, something will start here. I don’t know (and I don’t think anyone knows) what is the matter, but everything works like that.
