Russian armed forces continue to use the modernized Kalashnikov AK-74M assault rifles. A large batch of AK-74M last modification entered the Central Military District. This was reported in the service of rocket-artillery weapons of the Central Military District.
According to Mikhail Kuzin, the acting head of the RAV service, 6 thousands of modernized Kalashnikov AK-74M automatic rifles of 5,45-mm caliber entered the Central Military District under the state defense order. with a set of upgrades "body kit". New machines have adjustable length butt, improved stores of translucent polymer. For installation of various attachments, the machines are equipped with a Picatinny rail. The rifles are designed to re-equip general and reconnaissance units of the district.

As stated in the Central Military District, this modernization of the AK-74М with the use of the kit "Obves" allows increasing the efficiency of using the machine according to the criterion "frequency of destruction" one and a half times at a distance of up to 300 meters. Upgraded weapons can be used at any time of day and in different climatic conditions.
