Estonian army changes rifle weapon, the delivery of American automatic rifles will begin at the beginning of 2020 of the year. About it reports the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic.

Estonia is armed with American rifles caliber 5,56 and 7,62-mm

The Estonian Ministry of Defense has signed a contract with the American company Lewis Machine & Tool Company (LMT), according to which the Estonian army will receive 16 thousand automatic rifles in 5,56 and 7,62 mm calibers within two years. The contract value is $ 75 million, deliveries will begin in early 2020.

It should be noted that currently in the Estonian army there are very different small arms in service: Israeli automatic rifles Galil and Negev light machine guns chambered for 5,56 x 45 mm, obtained from Norway and Germany from the presence of automatic rifles chambered for 7,62х51 mm GXNXXX3 and G3XXXXXXUMX and G3XXXXX from Sweden - Ak 4 (same G4). There are a number of new German 3-mm automatic rifles G5,56 and MGGNUMX light machine guns.

In order to replace small arms, the Estonian Ministry of Defense announced a tender in 2017, in which the American company Lewis Machine & Tool Company (LMT) won in December 2018, which will supply the Estonian army with MLCPS automatic rifles (chambered for NATO 5,56 x 45 mm) and CQBMWS (chambered for NATO 7,62 x 51 mm).

Rifles are variations of the widely-used AR family of the Stoner construction, but with a patented upper part of the receiver, made of a single monolithic aluminum construction, which ensures its increased rigidity.

The Scout Battalion (Scoutspataljon) of the 1 Infantry Brigade of the Estonian Army, stationed in Tapa (now armed with the Israeli Galil, received in the early 90), will be the first to receive new rifles. The rifles will then be fully equipped with the 1 and 2 infantry brigades. It is planned to equip Kaysteylit (people's militia), police, border guards and units of the Estonian Ministry of Justice with weapons.

Two infantry brigades from the 5 battalions are about 5 thousand bayonets. Kiteselite (security self-defense units) about 2 thousand, border guard and police. In reserve, all who have served. (Now they row up everyone on an urgent row, almost three years ago they didn’t take it). Well, just at 16 you can get thousands. I think the old stuff will also not be allowed on needles, it will lie in warehouses. So with the world on a thread and the Americans will not have to fight.

Actually, Gallil or G-3 "machines" are serious to go straight into the oven. I would not be surprised if these or other "trunks" instead of a warehouse end up in the hands of different groups.

I don’t need to go to the library, fellow countryman Andres, because I have been living in Estonia since 1967, more than you, and I know perfectly well what “Kaitselit” and “Omokayt” and “Forest Brothers” are and what they did. So there is no need to justify them, After the Second World War, the court put everything in its place.

Half of the Kaitseliites will be broken when they are drunk. The other half scouts (scouts) drown in the sea.

14 scouts and the harsh sea

On September 11, 1997, the biggest loss of the Defense Forces (Estonia) happened - during the crossing in Kurks, 14 soldiers of the reconnaissance platoon drowned. It was expected that in good weather it would be possible to wade the sea in an hour, but the waves rose, the soldiers lost their course in a storm, and 14 out of 22 people did not get ashore after five hours in cold water.

Heino Kreintal, the captain and chief of the port, saw people in the water, who, together with his son, went out into the stormy sea and in a small boat that accommodated only six people, took ten soldiers. Eight of them survived.

      -----

Sea, Karl! Wade, Karl! In an hour, Karl!

      Not heroes ...

No shit to yourself! Fourteen scouts drowned in a puddle! We have recently killed the same number of sailors, but is it possible to compare the conditions of their death !? And these are going to fight with us? So talk after that about the "mentality" of the two neighboring peoples.

I don’t know how about howitzers, but they have only one division of different-barrel artillery. But the Dutchman sold his old armored personnel carriers, they look good, and then my son’s classmate came from Tapa, he served there, he says that the Dutch took all the electronics from them, and now the driver sees nothing and can’t use weapons. The Estonians demanded that they be returned, to which the Dutch offered them to buy for the same money as the armored personnel carriers cost.

Soviet submachine guns were better in quality than the German ones, for example, from the PPSh it was possible to fire a single aimed shot at a distance of 300 meters, which was approaching in the distance of a direct shot from Mosin carbine (400 meters), while from MP-38/40 such the shot could be made only at 120 meters. Effective automatic fire from PPSh up to 200 meters, from MP-38/40 no more than 70 meters.
