In the USA, they called the T-14 "Armata" a super tank, but doubted the export potential

American journalists and observers decided that for a long time there were no articles in the media about Russian tank T-14 Armata. Representatives of the publication The National Interest undertook to correct such a “mistake”, in which articles with diametrically opposite opinions about the same military equipment are often published. T-14 Armata in this case is no exception.

In the USA, they called the T-14 "Armata" a super tank, but doubted the export potential

The publication states that the past military-technical forum "Army-2019" was not announced the conclusion of contracts for the sale of the latest Russian tanks.

The submission indicates that Rosoboronexport has so far decided to refrain from implementing export plans for the T-14 tanks. The author makes a conclusion that looks like this: it can be connected with too high production costs and (at the moment) a low interest on the part of potential buyers from abroad.

This, as the author Mark Episkopos notes, speaks of the “low competitiveness” of the newest Russian tank. Nevertheless, the armored vehicle from the author was awarded the epithet "super" (supertank).

The NI also noted that Russia will try to overcome this kind of “problem” through the use of cheaper versions of “Armata”, which in turn will lead to a decrease in previously announced characteristics.

Recall that earlier in the NI called the T-14 then "a breakthrough in the world tank building", then "a tank, suitable only as a museum exhibit."

To correct such a "mistake" took the representatives of the publication The National Interest

Again, these zhurnalyugi are throwing a blizzard ... they are better than our officials, designers and the military, they understand our weapons and know better where and how much they will sell it ... God, how tired of all this.

The sale of weapons does not mean that you need to sell everything. The best thing to keep. This is the guarantee of the superiority of our army.

Another philosopher / philologist (or even a person without special education ... in the USA this is the norm) expressed an expert "opinion" ...
Armata touched them not childishly ... offended ... then the tank is not the same ... then it is unlikely that they will be taken for export ... (then the tracks are not the same size ... he has grenades of the wrong system) ... reasoning and blah blah blah ... about the performance characteristics and really the implementation of the new concept by Russian designers no matter)))

Well, at least there in journalism, but in our government and the Moscow Region. Another question is where is more the norm in modern times.

Well, it has a lot of what’s on the export version and can’t be replaced by anything worse (the same tower). Well, for export, it’s better for them to rivet them and gladden the rest.

And why do we generally offer for export the equipment that they themselves do not have yet (Armata, MiG-35, Su-57)?

For example, to make money for production at home. Or to modernize production.

These endless and pointless disputes will last until the actual combat use of the T-14. Real combat will reveal the strengths and weaknesses of the product. Although, judging by the spears broken around the T-34 and the tigers with panthers, even after the battle there will be a "battlefield" for experts and espers. New will always be in the center of attention.

Citation, as a measure of trust in a source, does not fall from the sky, so it deserves something. Although I agree that PR is doing its own, not always righteous, business.

    The National Interest,
The publication already gives reason to doubt an objective, and most importantly professional assessment of the situation. Too many questions arise about the so-called. "experts" grazing on this information field.

Unfortunately they are right. At the moment, this tank has a place in the museum. Since they don’t deliver it anywhere else, even to the troops. ((
If we recall the history of T 34, then its widespread use is due to the war. If it were hypothetically accepted that the Second World War would not have begun, the T34 would go into the troops much longer.

normally T34 entered the army: produced in January - June 41g. 1130 pcs. almost all went to the troops, since it naturally occurred to no one to send for export.

No one will sell a tank without operational experience in the army, and a niche for this machine has not yet developed, perhaps only China could buy a limited batch, but it’s too early to sell such a car to the Chinese

Well, yes, yes, and when other manufacturers sell stripped-down versions of their products, is that normal ???

        Hi soldier
It is strange when the generally accepted manufacturers of seriously military equipment in the world practice is presented as something .... not so.
As in the film - "this leg, who needs a leg! But that leg, not at all like that and not at the right one !!!"

It has long been clear to everyone, and no one has denied that Armata is the best tank on the planet ..
But we don’t have money for it, either for ourselves or for sale .. this is also clear to everyone ..

PS .. well, where is the money - also not a secret for a long time:

It seems that everyone who is not lazy speaks about "Armata" .. and diametrically opposite statements are connected with the fact that no one knows anything in particular, but it is necessary to seem competent.
It was the same with the Su-30, developed for India, with unclear prospects for sale, and as a result it turned out that the plane became the most popular fighter in the Russian Air Force and the best-selling in export version ...
And what awaits Armata - time will tell, well, certainly not the fate of the promoted Abrams ..

by the way, about to sort it out. somehow the news of a larger cannon for armada completely disappeared,
while in Europe, meanwhile, more and more 130 and 140 mm theme pops up at exhibitions.
Rheinmetal has been advertising its 2mm gun for 130 years now.
somehow it makes me think that when the first regiment of armatures appears, NATO will already be armed with weapons with tools that can successfully deal with it.

not sure if exporting the latest tank is a good idea.
here the problem is different - the delay in decisions, their irrelevance and inefficiency
1941 happened to a large extent thanks to this factor.
why create a cool tank if there are no plans to use it?
        advertising? there are cheaper ways.

There are many "works" of the military-industrial complex of different countries, which have been traveling to all kinds of exhibitions for many years, but no one is particularly interested in them, except that some separate country like Thailand or Singapore (which will never fight, but there is money) will buy a small batch ...

Of course, it’s better to remake the entire tank under a new AZ, than just increase the power of the 125mm gun, increase the power, why change the caliber?

If right now they say that T 14 is ready to export, then the cunning Chinese will be the first, since this is a country of fakes and clones and other countries will stand in line not only to get a tank, but also to get technology ...

I remember our one well-known little man from the military industrial complex boasted that after the Syrian operation, a huge line of foreign buyers lined up for the Su-34. It was two years ago. Queue where? Can not see something. Not a single contract. That's about C-300 and 400, yes, I see a serious interest among foreign buyers. And T-14 even in its own troops of the Russian Federation does not go en masse, it is not tested in combat conditions, not to mention fighting. Why would you order it to foreigners? Believe commercials? They have already seen everything as an example - the Abrams advertised are burning two times from the ATGM and the Arab RPG.

A museum exhibit would be if it cost as much as three Abrams ... and an armata is 30% cheaper ... the question is how technologically advanced the tank is, whether the characteristics correspond ... and time does not stand still, "transparent armor" is needed , tank-based uav
