All tanks and engineering vehicles produced at Uralvagonzavod were developed in the open joint-stock company Ural Transport Engineering Design Bureau (UKBTM). It is included in the integrated structure of the corporation and possesses highly qualified personnel, a powerful design and production base, as well as advanced technologies in the design of high-tech products.
Currently, UKBTM are developing the latest combat vehicle. Already by 2015 at Uralvagonzavod they plan to change the entire tank model lineup. A universal combat platform will be created on which all types of weapons associated with tracked vehicles will be placed: the main battle tank, armored personnel carrier, infantry fighting vehicles, as well as combat support vehicles.
During the Great Patriotic War, T-34 tanks were manufactured not only in Nizhny Tagil, but also in many other domestic factories. One of the largest manufacturers of “thirty-fours” for the front was the Omsk enterprise, now part of UVZ, the open joint-stock company “Design Bureau of Transport Engineering” (KBTM). Thanks to the experience gained during the war, this enterprise also became one of the country's leading manufacturers of special equipment: the Omsk specialists produced T-80 tank, radiation, chemical, biological protection machines and other equipment for the Ministry of Defense’s orders. The priority of development of Omsk designers is protected by more than 400 patents for industrial property objects and 1200 copyright certificates for inventions. One of the most promising products of KBTM is the heavy flamethrower system TOC-1, which hits targets at a distance of 6 km and is intended to destroy the enemy by the effect of pressure drops.
Currently, in its activities to create a scientific and technical reserve for the development of promising samples of armored vehicles, KBTM pursues a technical policy of gradually improving the components of military tracked vehicles and the continuity of existing progressive design solutions. And, of course, Plant No. XXUMX is one of the domestic leaders in the creation and production of barreled artillery for all tanks, which form the basis of the modern Russian Armed Forces. The T-9C tank is armed with X-NUMX-mm guns of the D-90 family of development “nine”.
The team of the Nizhny Novgorod research institute "Petrel", created in the 70s of the last century as the parent enterprise for the barrel artillery armament of the Ground Forces and the Naval fleet, during his glorious activities he performed more than 400 R&D and presented a number of samples of naval, field artillery, mortars, technical maintenance and artillery weapons.
