Named Iranian air defense system, which was shot down by US UAVs
The Iranian agency FARS has published information that the American UAV, shot down today by local air defense, was destroyed through the air defense system of the local development "Hordad-15".
Tehran claims that Global Hawk violated the country's airspace in the Kueh Mubarak region in the province of Hormozgan, near the Persian Gulf, after which the air defense forces of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) intercepted the UAV and destroyed it through a new air defense system.
In the published details of the incident, the IRGC claims that the UAV took off from one of the US bases located in the southern part of the Persian Gulf. The identification system was disabled on it. The UAV headed in the direction of the Iranian port of Chabahar (southeast of Iran). This information is published by the agency Tasnim.
The incident occurred in the Strait of Hormuz: this strategic section is critical for shipping in the region.
"Hordad-15" began to enter the troops in early June
Information about the adoption of the Hordad-15 air defense system by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was launched in early June. It is argued that the new air defense system is capable of bearing various types of targets at a distance of 150 km. Identify and track unobtrusive targets “Hordad-15” can be within a radius of 85 km, and shoot them down - within a radius of 45 km.
The new air defense system is also associated with long-range Sayyad-3 missiles. In addition, it is able to simultaneously capture up to 6 targets, and its deployment speed is less than 5 minutes.
The situation is sharpening
Over the past few days, the situation in the Persian Gulf has been steadily heating up. The United States and its allies, including Saudi Arabia and the UK, have consistently accused Tehran of attacking oil tankers on June 13.
During the investigation, it was announced that an attack of this level of coordination "can only be committed by state structures." Subsequently, Washington presented a video to the public, which, according to the Americans, depicts the process of the removal of an unexploded magnetic mine by ISIR soldiers.
Both sides at the moment claim that they do not want to translate the conflict on a military track.
