Small-bore pistol Taurus TX22. A model that has a future

31
Another new small-caliber appeared in the Brazilian company Taurus. It's about the gun chambered for .22LR. For unknown reasons, it is compared with sports pistols. Such a comparison, of course, is not in favor of the Brazilian product, but here you need to understand that at the moment in shooting sports there are a lot of disciplines, where exactly sports weapon will look at least strange. In any case, do not even try to compare the incomparable. This weapon is a full-sized pistol in the modern concept of the word, but, despite the simplicity and the hawkiness of the design, it is possible to find some interesting points in it. But let's get everything in order.

Ergonomics Taurus TX22 pistol

Even with a cursory examination of the pistol, it is noticeable that the designers of the company Taurus developed the weapon with an eye on modern successful pistols from other manufacturers. Indeed, the Taurus TX22 pistol not only looks like a modern weapon, but it is. The frame of the weapon is made of plastic with a well-thought-out texture for the most reliable and convenient grip of the weapon. Subjectively, the silhouette of a pistol very much resembles the updated Steyr M, but the weapon can be compared with a dozen more modern pistols. Separately, it is necessary to note the quality of the casting and the subsequent processing of the plastic of the pistol frame, as previously there have been repeated complaints about such an unpleasant moment for the products of the Brazilian weapons company.

The gun safety switch is made of a streamlined shape, duplicated on both sides of the weapon. The magazine eject button can be rearranged to any convenient side, but the slide latch key is only on the left side of the weapon. Separately, you need to say sighting devices, which are represented by the front sight and regulated entirely. Unfortunately, aiming devices have only the points applied by the light accumulating paint. Additionally, under the barrel on the weapon frame is provided a seat for a flashlight or laser pointer.

Interestingly implemented fastening bolt weapons on the frame. Moving forward to the cover-bolt does not give a retractable stop inside the safety bracket. Accordingly, to disassemble the gun, it must be moved down.

If you believe the reviews of those who managed to touch this gun at the exhibition, the weapon produces only a positive impression.

Gun Taurus TX22

According to its design, the Taurus TX22 pistol is one of the simplest members of its class, which explains its low cost. The simplicity of the design is explained primarily by the patron, which, even in its most “aggressive” variants, does not require a complex automation system. With the tasks quite successfully cope free shutter.

Trigger mechanism single action, shock. The pull force is 2,3 kg. Shops pistol single row with a capacity of 16 cartridges.

Characteristics of the gun Taurus TX22

As mentioned above, the gun Taurus TX22 - a weapon that is light enough for its size, its unloaded weight is only 482 gram. The total length of a 178 pistol millimeters with a barrel length of 102 millimeters. And the most important characteristic in this case is the price of Taurus TX22. In the US market, this gun, complete with 2 stores, is proposed to be purchased for 349 dollars, which is somewhat cheaper than similar weapons from other manufacturers. With all its characteristics, the Taurus TX22 pistol looks more than competitive.

Positive and negative sides of a Taurus TX22 pistol

Among the positive features of the gun Taurus TX22 can be noted its low mass, which does not affect the comfort of operation due to the use of low-power ammunition. Good gun ergonomics make the gun comfortable for most people, however, Taurus TX22 does not fit under the palm of a small size or is larger than an average hand size, which is not surprising if you look at the cost of weapons, at least in something, but you have to save.

The weapon is far from perfect, but the ideal does not exist in nature. First of all, the plastic pistol shop does not inspire confidence. And although many now attribute this part of the weapon to consumables, its durability is still not in last place, especially considering the specific cartridge case of the .22LR cartridge. The inability to install sights that are more convenient for the shooter is clearly not to be liked by many, since people prefer a certain type of rear sight and front sights.

Conclusion

Despite what has been said above, Taurus TX22 is still quite a successful model of a pistol that has a future and there is a buyer. Yes, this weapon has absolutely nothing to do with sport. However, the Taurus TX22 pistol can easily cope with tasks such as initial training and maintaining skills, which will provide some money savings, both because of the cost of the weapon and because of one of the cheapest ammunition. So it's not just the “gun of the day”.

Taurus has long established itself as a manufacturer of quality products. Has a good position in the US market. On the topic: a beautiful, modern, not expensive pistol, the gun certainly will not be limited to only a cartridge of .22 lr.

Now, yes, but first, those that were 7-8 years ago ... I managed to touch and see myself (Plastic frame, the seam was treated like a clerical knife. It is clear that now it is a completely different approach, but the memory of the people is a long time, therefore slowly recovering reputation)))

That's for sure - the arms market is very sensitive to reputation. Tori - I bypass, although in our area the dominance of revolvers from Torus. If anyone would like Smith or Ruger, they simply don’t have a shelf on the store. There are only Tori.

The funny thing is that in Russia all these pistols — an unattainable dream of gun lovers — can only be read and licked.

Good evening buddy Mark! Normal article, nothing "gray". What else can you write about this "Goby"? I would have bought it myself for bottle shooting.

Man, bottles need to be handed over in glass containers, not to litter nature, but to shoot exclusively at watermelons, melons and coconuts to feed unfortunate wild animals.

Rzhu, of course ... but I still punished a couple of watermelons from the .357 Magnum for not being sweet at all. The watermelons were happily "spread out with their brains." Wild goats for a treat. And now the shooting range has bought the land under the "wild" shooting range and you can get there only for money, and you can't "indulge" like that. If you want to shoot, pay money and shoot like that at those targets. No bottles, watermelons or coconuts.

        Satraps ...

But they are doing it right. Well done. Ordnung.

Plastic bottles are even more dangerous for nature. Trash should be sorted and plastic - in a separate container, buddy!

Here in Estonia there is no place for huge landfills. Everything is recycled.

Do not collect sleeves - money down the drain. Either you can recharge it yourself, or sell it to relodirs, or just in color.

Yes, and leave your shells from firing in the wrong place somehow ... well, what the hell! It’s better to remove it just in case.

It turned out a gray article,

Your article, buddy, is normal, as always, but what can you tell about any gun? Just what they told. Nothing remarkable, except for 16 rounds in the store. Usually .22LRs are made 10-charge under U.S. law.

This is a gun for post-shootings. Like a sports pistol, he is clearly not good. As self-defense - even more so.

The cost of the cartridge .22LR and 9x19 for bulk purchases of thousands of pieces is approximately the same. And in the cost of a cartridge, it does not give much benefit.

The cost of any Glock used in the secondary arms market is 400-350 euros in Europe and the same amount in dollars, if in the USA.

There is not much sense in this "pukalka". But ... there are other pistols like Walter or Sig that make .22LR pistols for training. They decided that pistols of almost the same design (not quite so) with the same ergonomics and arrangement of controls could be useful for training and subsequent transition to the "adult" 9x19 caliber. I do not know...

In the IPSC junior division, 12-year-olds handle a 9x19 pistol no worse than adults and do not complain about recoil. Who then needs this "post-fire" pistol in .22LR caliber?

    request

The cost of a pistol under .22 LR is usually half the cost of the same model, but "adult" caliber. For Walter and Sig, it is. Yes, prices are somewhere around 350 euros. Oops ... I looked - Whitefish is no longer in the price tag of our store, but for Walter, the price has doubled.

The tube is full of videos on how children shoot from 9x19 pistols in IPSC competitions in the junior division.

Here, some seven-year-old kid Alexey is controlling a pistol in caliber 9x19 (the minimum caliber allowed for such competitions).

opening a tin can from 22

What is it like? Shoot a .22LR full of Tomato Bulls?

        good

From a purely practical standpoint, I was interested to see what the .357 Magnum does with a five-liter plastic can of water. This .357 Magnum was also not a standard 158 grain, but a "self-defense" 110 grain with a cunning Fiocchi Black Mamba bullet. In general, 1000 Joules in the catalog. I did not expect at all that a 5 liter jar would jump to the height of its growth and that the plastic would simply be torn at the exit. I don’t want to think about what a person feels after catching this.

This is not a 5-liter can in the video, but a much larger volume of those that are put on office coolers. And there the plastic is thick, not like 5 liter cans of drinking water. My can was standing at the height of the table and the bullet hit the label almost at an angle of 90 degrees to the can wall. Tochnik in the middle. Bank as in the second video.

For the illustrations and video, as always, many thanks and plus.

            good

I then shot the Fiocchi Black Mamba in .357 Magnum, .38 Special, 9x19 and .45 ACP calibres.

Impressed only .357 Magnum and 9x19. I completely disappointed .45 ASR - no miracle happened to him. A hole at the entrance, the same hole at the exit.

Black Mamba bullets differ from standard bullets in the same calibers in the direction of greater efficiency when working on the target. Sooner somersaults start, except for the .45 ACP.
