The newest armored car K-4386-air defense "Typhoon-air defense", designed to carry calculations of mobile MANPADS, showed at the site "Vorontsovsky" 726-th training center of air defense of the ground forces of the Russian Federation. Two newest armored vehicles are being tested at the test site.

The Ministry of Defense showed a new armored car K-4386-Air Defense "Typhoon-Air Defense"

It is reported that the new armored vehicle K-4386-air defense "Typhoon-air defense" is a modification of the armored vehicle "Typhoon-Airborne Forces" already in service. The main difference from the base model is a turret with a machine gun caliber 12,7 mm and the presence of two hatches in the roof: one for the gunner-gunner, the second for the gunner operator MANPADS, allowing you to fire on aircraft.

The total mass of the armored car is a little more than 14 tons. 350 hp engine and 9-speed gearbox allows you to accelerate the car to 105 km / h and cover the distance in 1200 km. Crew 5 man: driver, crew commander and 3 arrow calculation MANPADS.

The main purpose of the new armored car is to cover troop columns, mechanized groups on the march and in the parking areas, as well as to quickly change the position of the calculations of mobile anti-aircraft systems. In addition, the machine can be used as a commander or communications.

At this stage, not only the armored car itself, but also its radio-electronic base, is being tested in troop operation. According to the results of these tests, it will be decided to use this machine at the stage of the international competition "Clear Sky", which will be held in August this year in China.

Based on the results of these tests, a decision will be made to use this machine at the stage of the international "Clear Sky" competition, which will be held in August this year in China.

There is already information that the decision was made positive
In general, Army International Games is a very good initiative. (I would like to change the logo)

"..calculation commander and 3 arrow calculation MANPADS"
Where are there so many of them, are they there that they will be on duty "in three days"?

The howitzer on it is still mounted and MLRS. He wouldn’t have a price then.

Mount the howitzer on it and MLRS

It was designed for a divisional bomb, with a nuclear caliber of four thousand two millimeters. A howitzer will not do.

I compare it with the Ukrainian "Warta" and I feel sorry for the scrap metal collectors from the Square.

But it will not be bold. The usual armored personnel carrier, or a tent truck is not enough?

This armored car, just combines an armored personnel carrier and a small truck.

BTR is more expensive than this miracle of technology... And a tilt truck ... in those places where Typhoons are used, the l / s in the back of the truck has a big threat of being hit by a line from a shooter, fragments from a mine / shell or mine detonation.

Hinting at Syria - according to your information, do terrorists have manned aircraft? Reflect the A-10 raid, Apache ... Aviation (the most likely enemy - NATO) will hit from afar. am How Typhoon-Air Defense will detect aircraft (helicopters) and determine their affiliation what ? Perhaps this will be done by a certain ,, radio-electronic base ,, what ? The hatch for the arrow operator MANPADS - ONE !!! (will you use the second?) recourse

I doubt it. I doubt it very much. Airborne MRAP, new for the industry, in which about 50% of components are imported, against the well-established in production and almost the entire head of the domestic "eighties" ...

It's a shame to see even Michelin tires on an armored car, is it really that the same Omskshina is not able to give birth to an analogue? sad

Omskshina got used to stamping tires with tens of thousands, and here only a couple of hundred sets of force. Easier to buy abroad.

And what prevented you from simply mounting the Sagittarius module on it (the land-based analogue of the Flexible)? He also shoots rockets from the Needle and Willow, but you don't have to stick your head out of the booked volume.

calculation of MANPADS on bicycles - it would be generally cheap)) Do you know the saying: stingy pays twice? In this craft, all the conditions have been created for the MANPADS operator to perform his duties as "efficiently" as possible))

I guess, yes. Nothing prevents him from firing from MANPADS. And the task has changed, with the same efficiency the calculation (of another) can shoot from Metis or Bassoon. And you can stick a reconnaissance group with a light UAV there, for example. I think that it’s not at all necessary that the Typhoon-Air Defense should be sharpened solely on air defense. MTLB, for example, is a tractor, and performs the functions of an armored personnel carrier. Doesn't that upset anyone? As a result, the car is both economical and universal. IMHO

those. sticking his belt out of the hatch, risking to catch a splinter - is this normal in current conditions? Why then put remote-controlled modules - on a whim? For example, the ATGM Cornet based on the Tiger is controlled from the inside. Exactly like MANPADS at its base. Do we have airborne forces so elite that shrapnel and bullets bounce off fighters?

Well, of course they can, they are even obliged ... After all, we have generals, that the military, that the production, are very often under-smart. Only in the light of strategy and production progress.

By no means, they are people too, and nothing human is alien to them. But we must realize that if we are not conquered, then our army and industry, headed by these generals, are sufficiently "advanced" to compete successfully on this front. Ask yourself a question - if you consider yourself more competent than the entire military-industrial commission, relatively speaking, then why are you not a general? After all, you don't even know what exactly caused the choice of this construction, simply because the minutes of the discussion of these topics are not for publication, but you already take responsibility for discussing their mental abilities. This reminds me more of childish maximalism, in which the reason for everything that is not understood is the impenetrable stupidity of all those who think differently.
