Dron-kamikaze from the concern "Kalashnikov"
It is worth noting that the kamikaze drone, or kamikaze drone, are definitions of such UAVs that have long been entrenched in the press, but the official designation of such weapons is loitering ammunition. The operating principle of such drones simple enough. Loitering munitions are projectiles with various masses of explosives in the warhead, capable of flying over a given area or to a certain point for a long time, searching for and then hitting detected ground targets with an air attack. Loitering ammunition usually does not return from flight, hence such a stable comparison with kamikaze - Japanese suicide pilots, which were widely used by the Land of the Rising Sun at the final stage of World War II in the Pacific theater of operations.
Impact drone from ZALA AERO
The engineers of the ZALA AERO group of companies are responsible for the development and creation of the new KUB-BLA drone unmanned complex. Today, ZALA AERO is rightly considered one of the leading domestic developers of air drones for various purposes. The company also specializes in the creation and production of a unique target load for UAVs and other technical means that ensure their effective use. Since January 2015, the ZALA AERO group of companies has been organizationally part of the Concern Kalashnikov Joint-Stock Company.
The ZALA AERO group of companies was formed in Izhevsk as early as 2004, and in 2006, it introduced the first unmanned aerial vehicle. Today, the company designs and manufactures a wide range of flying UAVs of both aircraft and helicopter type. In total, over a thousand unmanned aerial vehicles under the ZALA brand are operated in the Russian Federation. The area of use of such equipment is quite wide - from reconnaissance and rescue operations and the protection of the state border, to monitoring of emergency situations and facilities that are of increased danger. The company is especially proud to be the leader of the Russian market in providing air monitoring services in the fuel and energy sectors of the Russian economy. It can be stated that the company has extensive experience in the development and production of unmanned vehicles, therefore problems with launching into mass production and mastering the new unmanned KUB-BLA strike complex should not arise, of course, if the device is demanded by customers. Earlier, the Kalashnikov Concern has already reported on the successful trials of the new drone drone complex and the readiness of the KUB-BLAH for use by the military.
The development of Izhevsk gunsmiths has already drawn the attention of the foreign press. For example, in one of the major American print publications of the Washington Post, the novelty of the Russian defense industry literally sang a laudatory ode. Journalists of the newspaper called the KUB-UAV drone strike complex a revolution in the world of weapons, comparing the drone with a Kalashnikov assault rifle. True, what exactly is revolutionary in fact is difficult to understand. The pioneers of creating such anti-bomber ammunition are the United States, as well as Israel, which have been developing and producing them for the past few decades, and representatives of the Kalashnikov Concern, who openly write about it in their own materials, agree with this. Perhaps the main chip of the new Russian drone drone will be a small price. In terms of cost-effectiveness, the complex is likely to really bypass the latest American and Israeli models. Under certain conditions, this can be considered as revolutionary, since the low price will make the device available to a wide range of customers, just as it happened with the Kalashnikov machine gun that conquered the whole world.
Features and capabilities of patrol ammunition "KUB-BLA"
According to the statements of representatives of the Kalashnikov concern, with whom it is difficult not to agree, today ammunition locking ammunition and drones - carriers of guided ammunition - is one of the main and most promising areas in the development of UAVs. The KUB-BLA complex, presented by Kalashnikov Concern engineers, implements the concept of hitting remote ground targets from the air. A drone can deliver a charge of explosives to previously known coordinates of a ground target, which can be entered manually even before launching, or independently find a target using a special target targeting load on board.

According to Rostec’s CEO Sergei Chemezov, the Kalashnikov Concern is an organizational part of this state corporation, a new shock unmanned system is a step forward, a step towards a new method of warfare. According to Chemezov, today Russia is confidently among the leading countries specializing in the development and production of such weapons systems. The munitions introduced in Abu Dhabi can travel at average speeds from 80 to 130 km / h and remain in the sky for up to half an hour. In this case, the explosive charge installed on the drone is delivered to the area of the target being attacked, regardless of the terrain or the presence of shelters. The drone can fly up to the target at high and low altitudes, while it absolutely doesn’t hide the target in ravines and gullies or not. “KUB-UAV”, like other models of modern kamikaze drones, is an effective and accurate weapon that is difficult to resist with the help of classic systems and air defense systems.
The main advantages of the Kalashnikov Concern employees are the high accuracy of the locking ammunition, the hidden launch, ease of handling and quiet operation. The drone can move from the launch point to the target in the speed range from 80 to 130 km / h, which is a decent figure, given the small size and weight of the aircraft. The device is launched into the air with a special catapult. The payload mass of a kammikaze drone is 3 kg, the flight duration is 30 minutes. Based on the published video and photographic materials, as well as the claimed payload mass, experts believe that the total mass of the unmanned vehicle does not exceed 10-15 kg. The length of the unmanned vehicle does not exceed 1210 mm.
Foreign patrol ammunition
The first kamikaze drones appeared in the 1989 year, it was then that the Israelis IAI Harpy (Harpy) made a flight for the first time in Israel. The main purpose of the projectile was to fight the radar of the enemy. This is a fairly large drone with a maximum mass of 125 kg and a range of up to 400 km. The complex can make a completely independent flight, and the operator can also manually control Harpy. If the order to attack the target is not given, the Harpy can simply go back to the airfield and land. Israeli development is a hybrid of ammunition loot and reusable reconnaissance drone.
Close in size and capabilities to the Russian novelty can be called the Israeli miniature patrol ammunition Hero-30. This drone-kamikaze remains in the sky 30 minutes and is able to hit targets that are up to 40 km from the launch site. The total mass of such a drone is only 3 kilograms, carry Hero-30, if necessary, can only one fighter, carry the drone with him, he can at least 24 hours in a row. Of this mass, about a third is accounted for by the combat charge itself, another third by batteries.
Analogs of tiny "air killers" are in the US. For example, the silent killer Switchblade, designed by engineers at AeroVironment. This locking ammunition is launched from a special tube-installation, which strongly resembles a classic mortar. With a mass of about 2,5 kilogram, the drone has a maximum speed of 158 km / h. The drone can be in the air no more than 10-15 minutes and hit targets at a distance of up to 10 km (optionally up to 15-45 km), a very small size of the complex affects. But the device is extremely mobile, the drone itself, together with the launching device and bag for transportation, weighs only 5,5 kg, significantly expanding the capabilities of the platoon-company level rifle subunits.
But these are already known, previously submitted projects. At the IDEX-2019 exhibition, in addition to the Russian novelty, new models of antiquating ammunition produced by Eastern European countries and Turkey were also presented, which can directly compete with the “national” drone drone. So the Polish developers presented a completely new drone called Giez WARble Fly, before the exhibition in Abu Dhabi, this model has not yet been demonstrated. The Polish copy differs from a number of other similar complexes by the presence of a replaceable warhead, all in all are five different variants of performance - anti-personnel and anti-tank variants, a vacuum charge, as well as a single and training warhead. The launch of the drone is carried out from a special tube-tube. Flight speed - 150 km / h, flight range - 5-10 km, wingspan - 1,6 meter.
The Ukrainian defense industry also presented its version of the patrol munition at the exhibition. Developers of the neighboring state presented the UAV RAM model. The creation of the apparatus involved engineers of the company "Defense Electronic Technologies". In order to improve the stealthiness of the device, the drone is made of modern composite materials. To reduce the visibility model equipped with an electric motor, which remains quiet in operation. The maximum take-off weight of the device is 8 kg, wingspan - 2,3 meters, flight distance - 30 km, warhead weight - 3 kg. Any information about the trials and launches of new items is currently not available in open sources.
They presented their vision of kamikaze drone-guns and Turkish developers. The company STM (Savunma Teknolojileri Muhedislik) presented the second variation of the UAV ALPAGU BLOK II. According to the developers, the model is characterized by a developed AI, the presence of an autonomous control system, the video surveillance system and image processing algorithms were also improved. It is reported that the locking ammunition ALPAGU BLOK II was designed to meet the tests of the first version of the device by the Turkish military. The range of the drone is 5-10 km, flight time to 10-20 minutes, the developers have not yet disclosed any other information about the model.
