In the near future, the US Navy may be armed with a variant of the MH-60R Seahawk helicopter, armed with a new anti-ship missile. As transmits "Warspot" With reference to the portal defense-blog.com, the American company Raytheon and the Norwegian Kongsberg presented a new modification of the MH-60R helicopter, called MH-60 Romeo.

In the US, showed a new version of the helicopter MH-60 Romeo with the Norwegian RCC

The main armament of the new MH-60 Romeo helicopter is two airborne NSM medium-range anti-ship missiles, which can engage enemy surface ships at a distance of up to 100 miles (185 km). The anti-ship missile was developed by the Norwegian company Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace and has been supplied to the Norwegian navy since 2007.

The ASM NSM (Naval Strike Missile) is a subsonic rocket equipped with a TRI-40 turbojet engine. Length - 4 meters, the mass of ammunition over 400 kg, of which 120 falls on the warhead. Combined warhead and equipped with a target recognition system. RCC is designed to destroy surface and ground targets at a maximum range of 185 km.

Currently, these missiles are in service with the Norwegian Navy, there are contracts for the supply of anti-ship missiles to Poland and Malaysia. The US Navy does not exclude purchases of Norwegian missiles for their own needs, with the aim of which they carry out RCR data testing.

Whether the US Navy command will decide on the replacement of the Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk with a new version of the MH-60 Romeo helicopter is currently unknown.

The Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk helicopter is an anti-submarine version of the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter delivered to the US Navy with the 1979 of the year.

I’ll even tell you more, the Norwegians are doing quite a good NASAMS air defense system. https://topwar.ru/146679-zenitnyj-raketnyj-kompleks-nasams-2-dlja-avstralii.html
So take their defense industry more seriously.
NASAMS was also made in tandem with the American Raytheon, and was already able to receive many export orders.

However, the draft. = _ = And many dry cargo ships and bulk carriers are now more, hih, "armored" than battleships (or even would not have seen regular news about how another container ship / cattle carrier drowned or nearly drowned a 'destroyer / frigate / something else ). As I understand it, they regretted the target ship (it will come in handy again), and they simply did not put the warhead on the missile.

Norway has a good defense industry. Military electronics, missiles: anti-ship missiles, missiles.

Against ship air defense in these turntables with subsonic anti-ship missiles - not any trenches. IN - at least insert a picture on the topic

What type of air defense system do you mean? What will you shoot down this rocket with?

100 miles? Is it such jokes? And who are they going to fight with? Barmales have no ships at all. Is that pleasure yachts.

Read the article carefully. It is not so much about Norway as about the purchase of certain technologies for the American army. 100 miles for an air-launched anti-ship missile is, to date, just a manger. For comparison, a dagger has a range of more than 2500 kilometers. The plane will launch a missile without entering the affected area. The air defense of a modern ship will not allow this helicopter to fly for 200 miles. So the question is, who is it designed for. Is that for pleasure yachts.

The air defense of a modern ship without additional target designation of AWACS means simply will not see a helicopter for a hundred (or less).

Fuck! Why is the whole world not yet on its ears from the appearance of such super-weapons? This is if you are talking about the sea SAM "Dagger". And if the one with the MiG-31, then, excuse me, is a ground-based complex, it does not directly relate to the Navy - this is the aerospace forces. And the interaction of the combat arms has always been a headache for all states. Efficiency suffers greatly. Well, I will also note that Russia could not create anything like the Hawaiians (well, there was a Yak-44, but the collapse of the USSR buried this project, which the fleet desperately needed). And the AWACS plane has always been an order of magnitude more efficient and sharper than AWACS helicopter (so far we only have helicopters).
This rocket itself is a good remedy against corvettes / boats. Which, as they themselves are usually blind, are not worth it to spend on them something very expensive and serious. Workhorse as it is.

As they say, he would be silent for a smart one. With 300 fort, without any drills for 200 km, it will not let anyone close to itself.

If you are to yourself - then this is true. Could get off.
Do we have many "forts" on corvettes? In general, can you imagine how many and what kind of ships in the Russian Navy can carry them?

Well, if so smart, a little educational program. Project 22350 frigates have anti-aircraft anti-aircraft anti-ship missiles of any class at altitudes of 350 meters or more, with a range of up to 150 km, a ZAK broadsword, a naval analogue C 5 hero. Project 11356 frigates have a calm air defense system1. Affects all 360 degrees at a distance of 2.5 to 50 km., As well as artillery system AK 630 m, six barrels destroying any subsonic cruise missiles and aircraft. Corvettes of the project 20380. They have a polymer-redoubt, ZRAK dagger and AK 630m. And all this fights perfectly without the support of airborne warning systems, satellites and ground-based radars. Plus, if necessary, a ship group is created, headed by larger ships having FORT air defense and other systems combined into one system. Learn student.

Only with external target designation. What is a radio horizon - in the know? And then - see my first comment. Everything has already been said there, what I had to say. And about the AWACS and about admit / not admit.
And yes, I didn’t drink broodershaft with you. I addressed you personally to "you". So do not be rude with your "learn student" and do not "poke". At least for this, try to find a bit of communication culture in yourself.

Is this NSM? Not an aviation option - JSM which without a launch accelerator and on the F-35 are planned?
If it is, then the use of helicopters and most likely justified. One thing is not clear, they tried their own LRASM and did not like it, or is it a purely PR campaign to support the sales of NATO colleagues?
