Raised from the bottom of the frigate F 313 Helge Ingstad first passed under its own power
According to the publication, the Norwegian frigate, patched in a hurry at the naval base Haakonsvern, was able to make an independent voyage around the base. However, in the Norwegian Navy still do not know what to do with it in the future.
The frigate F313 Helge Ingstad is one of five Norwegian frigates of the Fridtjof Nansen class. 8 November 2018, returning from a NATO exercise, he collided with a tanker, causing serious damage and sinking. The team was able to bring it to shore, where the frigate almost completely went under water and was in that position until the end of February 2019, when during a rescue operation it was able to be lifted and delivered to the Hanoytangen port in 30 km southeast of the flooded area using floating cranes.
The frigate then moved to the Haakonversn naval base under the supervision of the Commodore of the Material Services of the Norwegian Armed Forces, Thomas Wederwang, sealed the hull, during which a 10-meter hole in the board was temporarily closed with steel plates. After which work was carried out to assess the damage caused by a three-month ship underwater. According to preliminary information, at the beginning of the estimated measures the damage already exceeded 58 million dollars.
Currently, the Norwegian Navy has a problem: on the one hand, the loss of one of the five frigates will significantly reduce combat qualities fleetand, on the other hand, the cost of restoration may be too high. According to unofficial information, the Norwegian Navy is inclined to use the surviving elements of the frigate Helge Ingstad on the remaining four ships of the same type.
