In St. Petersburg, launched the first "Varshavyanka" for Pacific Fleet
Alexander Buzakov, general director of the Admiralty Shipyards JSC, announced that the contract for the construction of six submarines for the Pacific Fleet was signed in 2016. The first two of the six Varshavyanok intended for the Pacific Fleet laid July 28 2017. Submarines are called "Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky" and "Volkhov". According to Buzakov, the boat will be commissioned to the Navy in 2019.
Igor Mukhametshin, Deputy Chief Commander of the Russian Navy, who was present at the ceremony, noted that the Russian Navy is sure that all the ships of the series are timely surrendered.
The “Varshavyanka” series of six diesel-electric submarines built for the Pacific Fleet is the second series built at the Admiralty shipyards. The first series also of six "Warsaw" was built in the period from 2010 to 2016 year for the Black Sea Fleet.
The 636.3 project diesel-electric submarines are designed to combat enemy submarines and surface ships, as well as to defend naval bases, sea and coastal communications. The length of the submarine is 73 meters, the width is 10 meters, the maximum depth of the dive is 300 meters, the submerged speed is 20 nodes, the autonomy is 45 days. Crew - 52 person. The submarines are armed with six 533 mm caliber torpedo tubes, mines and Caliber missile missile systems.
