China is developing a radar to deal with unobtrusive fighters

Chinese defense companies claim that they have created prototypes of several THz-emitting radar systems, the technology of which is considered by experts as an effective aerial reconnaissance tool and which, potentially, can successfully counteract invisible airplanes.

The THz model of the radar radar was successfully developed by a team of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC) led by scientist Li Yuanji, and a second-generation prototype is already under development, the Central Television of China (CCTV) reported on Sunday with reference to the corporation.

According to the statement, the development of terahertz radar is a global task, in the solution of which different countries are interested.

China is developing a radar to deal with unobtrusive fighters

The CCTV report states that THz radiation, also known as T-rays and whose frequency spectrum is located between infrared and microwave, can turn the latest stealth technology into obsolete.

In modern low-profile aircraft, composite materials and radio-absorbing coatings are commonly used, so conventional radars cannot detect them effectively. The terahertz radiation, in turn, can penetrate through them and be reflected from the metal parts inside the aircraft, actually lifting the box lid

- said in an interview with Wei Donghu, a military analyst from Beijing.

He also noted that a radar with T-radiation can clearly trace the contour of the object, allowing it to determine its type.

Experts say that THz radiation decays very quickly in the air, which means that the effective range of the radar is probably small and insufficient for the timely detection of an advanced stealth fighter, which is supposed to operate from long distances.

However, despite the fact that the stealth control technology needs to be improved, THz radiation can be effectively used for reconnaissance from the air.

Earlier, in December 2018, it was already reported that the Chinese Aerospace Scientific and Industrial Corporation (CASIC) had successfully developed China's first THz radar with synthetic aperture.

The CASIC radar uses terahertz radiation to see through complex environments, such as smoke, smog and dim light, and can effectively detect ground targets (such as infantry in camouflage camouflage). According to the developers, the system has a greater penetration depth than infrared vision devices.

According to Wei, after installing a radar on an aircraft or drone, the system will allow operators to clearly see the situation on the battlefield and strike at targets that would otherwise be difficult to detect.

This is actually a Chinese development or borrowed. They invest a lot of money in their own R&D and probably should already start to get a return on these investments.

Semurg, you look right behind the Chinese mountain .. You what these Chinese developments? Or are you going to mark around Nursultan-Tselinograd?
Look kzakhi, the Chinese people are cruel, and the territory presented to you is huge and you practically launched it, do not guard .. (gathered in juses near the gas-oil and uranium of mining presented to you by the USSR)
After all, they’ll take them away and drive them into yurts .. (no offense ..)

I am personally grateful to the Union for oil, uranium, industrial development. In general, Russia - for the fact that at one time they were protected from China, a more ruthless neighbor. But ... Nomadic animal husbandry involves large areas for grazing, also in different seasons. Therefore, historically, Kazakhstan has such territories, which in ancient times cost a lot of blood. And you argue that we "for free" got our own land. I do not agree with you

The radar image is very similar to the Soviet P-37.
Indeed, the Chinese really invest a lot in R&D, but so far all of their radars are in most cases our developments. Either issued under a license, or a joint Russian-Chinese development, another option was stolen and copied.

From the point of view of THz radar problems, radiation is possible and nonsense, the simplest direction finder will be an order of magnitude more efficient, even without IR illumination. But it is possible to develop powerful THz generators can be an alternative direction of laser weapons. The absorption coefficient is lower, the efficiency of the generators is greater, it is quite simple to ensure phase matching and create a compact AFAR with hundreds of emitters.

How do you plan to do AFAR in which the modules must be placed at a distance of less than half a millimeter? Are you sure that the phase shifter will fit into this module?
If so, then the Chinese or Americans of your choice will make you rich.

They tried for a long time ... and, as you can see, they are still trying to use the entot maser practically ... but so far nothing has worked! fool Is it a "breakthrough" ?! what Tady, what is this "breakthrough" if the maser has "genetic, physical disabilities"?

on meter ESR, the bomber doubles, the fighter three.
A noticeable increase in the EPR occurs on decameter-when large elements of the aircraft become less than the wavelength in meters.

Where do you come from, such “any physicists”? Although the question is rhetorical.

It is enough to carry out a simple search in the literature on this topic, and dozens of publications from the 90s will be discovered.

Millimeter-wave radars are better suited to combat stealthy targets by UAVs made using stealth technology and to ensure stealth operation.
ММВ, unlike waves of other ranges, quickly "fade" and are absorbed. Moreover, this attenuation is highly dependent on a specific frequency. There are both "transparency windows" - in the frequency regions of 35 and 94 GHz, and zones of enhanced absorption - 60, 120 and 180 GHz (resonant frequencies of oxygen and water vapor), i.e. it is possible to select the required parameters by varying the frequency. Covert operation is also facilitated by a narrow radiation pattern (for example, at a frequency of 94 GHz and an antenna diameter of 0,12 m, its half-power radiation pattern width is only 1,8 degrees, while at 10 GHz it is 18 degrees), which is higher, than a microwave antenna, the ratio of the main lobe to the side lobes.

The choice for the radar of the millimeter wave range (at frequencies above 30 GHz) allows, in comparison with the systems of the microwave range with the same antenna aperture sizes, to provide higher resolution and thereby improve tracking accuracy and target recognition, as well as improve the quality of mapping terrain. MMV range radars (radars) are less susceptible to deliberate interference from the enemy, since the ability to work in a wide frequency band allows using the wideband frequency modulation and signal coding to increase the noise immunity and processing speed of the received information.
By increasing the Doppler frequency shifts of the reflected signals arising from moving and maneuvering targets, their recognition and classification is facilitated.
The small size and weight of the antenna and devices of the MMB range allows you to create portable radars, which is especially important when they are placed as part of mobile devices. Unlike infrared and optical systems, radars of this range are able to function in conditions of smoke and precipitation (fog, dry snow).

A narrow beam pattern also contributes to covert work.

      Wrong!
The choice for the radar of the millimeter wave range (at frequencies above 30 GHz) allows, in comparison with systems of the microwave range with the same antenna aperture sizes, to provide higher resolution and thereby improve accuracy ...
Do you understand what the conversation is about?
      Can you justify?
By increasing the Doppler frequency shifts of the reflected signals arising from moving and maneuvering targets, their recognition and classification is facilitated.

But what about the centimeter range (for example, at f = 10 GHz), is it really impossible to do this or will Doppler shifts not give? Blind speeds - what can be excluded !?
