New howitzer M109A7 for the US Army again did not go into the series

The American army once again transferred the start of mass production of new self-propelled howitzers M109A7 developed by BAE Systems, reports Bloomberg.

New howitzer M109A7 for the US Army again did not go into the series

The decision to start full-scale production is not postponed for the first time: initially, new howitzers had to go to the 2018 series in July, then 2018 in December, then in March, and now the decision was postponed to November of this year. In this case, in the US Army itself, there are no claims to the quality of self-propelled guns. In total, the American army wants to buy 576 howitzers and ammunition vehicles.

Earlier it was reported that the US Army, as part of a large-scale modernization program for its armored vehicles, ordered BAE Systems to manufacture the M109A7 Paladin howitzer, an upgraded version of the M109A6 howitzer equipped with a digital fire control system and an automatic loader system.

Deliveries of M109A7 Paladin prototypes began in 2015 year. Without waiting for the end of deliveries of pre-production samples, the US Department of Defense signed with the contractor the first contract for small-scale production of new SAUs, under which the US Army receives 48 sets of combat vehicles. However, despite the good reviews, a full-fledged contract has not yet been concluded.

While the military are thinking about serial production of the M109A7 Paladin, BAE Systems is developing a new modification of the long-bore howitzer and XM1113 ammunition, capable of firing at distances up to 70 kilometers.

At the same time, the US Army itself does not make claims to the quality of self-propelled guns.

BAE Systems is the UK, maybe they don’t want to buy from them?

BAE Systems also has a daughter in the USA.
What about don't want to be procured... BAE Systems has long and tightly stuck to the US military budget, knocking out for itself such tasty contracts as the new armored personnel carrier for the marines and the replacement of the M113 armored personnel carrier.
According to American media, the US Marine Corps chose the offer of the BAE Systems corporation in a competition for a promising amphibious armored personnel carrier of the Marine Corps with an 8x8 wheel formula under the ACV (Amphibious Combat Vehicle) program. A $ 19 million contract issued by BAE Systems on June 2018, 198 provides for the delivery of 30 pre-production ACV vehicles to the US Marine Corps (ILC) as part of the first phase of the ACV program (ACV 1.1) by September 30, 2019. In fiscal 2019, it is planned to order another 30 pre-production cars, and then begin full-scale serial production from fiscal 2020.

On December 23, 2014, the US Army issued BAE Systems a contract worth $ 382 million to conduct a 52-month OCD program and test its machine under the AMPV program. Under this contract, it is planned to manufacture 29 pre-production vehicles of all five planned options (armored personnel carrier, command-and-staff vehicle, medical-sanitary vehicle, medical recovery vehicle, 120-mm self-propelled mortar) and an extensive test program. If successful, an option will be exercised under this contract, which provides for the delivery of 289 production vehicles of the first batch. The total value of the issued contract with the option is $ 1,2 billion.
It is planned that in the future up to 300 AMPV cars will be delivered per year with the complete replacement of the entire BTR M113 fleet in ABST within ten years from the start of production. The total cost of the entire program will be about $ 13 billion.

Now the "lolodinov" may be delivered to the former colony. smile

After that, who will say that the transfer of production began to law, a purely Russian tradition,

BAE has long been among the favorites of the Pentagon.
moreover, mattresses buy a lot of things abroad.
and BAE itself has a bunch of branches, not only in the USA, but even in Sweden and Australia.

Yes, so that they do not have anything in the series. Though the world will be calmer. And then these people with their "democracy in danger" have already bothered the whole world ...

Maybe they’re afraid of the cold, judging by the photo? But if the military is happy with everything .... Stirlitz shoves sticks in the wheels or something ...

Well no. It seems that the answer is in the last sentence of the article. Apparently Americans were interested in self-propelled guns with an increased barrel length.

The Americans were interested in a further game of cat and mouse. A budget of 750 billion for supplies is no longer enough. And so, on the little things you can still. Type of development.

I wonder how they implemented a system of automatic cartridge loading))) Really guessed replace cartridges for cartridges? Then they will postpone the series for a long time. New ammunition needs to be done in commodity volumes laughing

It’s interesting how they implemented an automatic grape-loading system)))

They had to shoot the cartoons for a long time. They are modules, so as not to lie, more than a decade release.

Sleeves, like cartridges, do not allow fully automatic loading.

      =======
Well, under the curtain, as far as I know, automatic loading never appeared. It seems like they wrote about fur. sentence. And this is somewhat different

"The M109A7 Paladin is a modernized version of the M109A6 howitzer, equipped with a digital fire control system and an automatic loading system." - this is a line from the article.
By the way, do we also have a Negro-Charger on the self-propelled guns? And in tanks, by the way, charges, as I recall, in a combustible sleeve with a metal pallet. That is, where to screw the capsule, there is) Do not stick the fuses in the shutter into the holes

It depends on whom to rank among the "blacks". 8))) Even the super-duper "Coalition" has loaders from the ground.

          Quote: Stroibat stock
No need to stick fuses in the shutter into the holes

But this is a really problematic thing. Although it is possible that this "newest self-propelled gun" finally has an automatic feeding of capsule sleeves

Let's not confuse cutlets with flies) We have loaders from the ground) They take out shells and charges from the shipping boxes and put them on the conveyor. This is with regard to "Msta" and "Coalition". And inside it seems like blacks don't hang out. And the mattresses never gave birth to a mechanism or an automatic loader. There are not enough brains. Although with cap loading, you don't have to bother with the automatic loader, otherwise the sacred cleaning of the barrel with a bannych after each shot will sink into oblivion)))

About 2C19 you can argue. The charging charger works there.
Automatic loading of projectiles in Msta-S. And then if you do not have to change the fuse setting

The fact is that the Americans were the first. Regarding self-propelled guns with fully automatic loading.

But at the moment there are no such fully automatic "in service". In addition to the strange Scandinavian thing called "Archer" Which with a huge creak was pushed into the troops, and only the Swedes. ("Archer" is generally a strange self-propelled gun, a microscopic ammunition battery and the inability to replenish it during firing. Almost slowly firing MLRS turned out)

The Americans had two "approaches", Crusader and NLOS-C, both programs closed. The Germans have Donar / AGM /, RCH 155, in fact, the same tower at different bases. It was not possible to interest anyone, the Israelis were closest to buying. Well, our "Coalition", which may still get into the troops

There is no KVO there. There are Vb Vd and Vv. Which is different for each projectile, each charge and each range.

I understood that it depends on the mood and optimality of the gunner’s quadrant. And by the way about Italians
M109A7 (formerly M109A6 PIM) 2012 is an upgraded version of the M109A6 Paladin. The upgraded self-propelled gun is equipped with a digital fire control system and an advanced semi-automatic loading system. Also, the gun’s hydraulic control systems were replaced by an electric drive, which increased ammunition. The gun is a 155 mm M284 on the machine M182A1. The self-propelled gun is installed in the self-propelled guns. The base chassis was replaced with an improved one with suspension elements and HMPT-800 transmission [1] from the M2 Bradley. The mass increased to 36 kg [288], with the possibility of building up to 1 tons (if necessary, hanging additional armor). Instead of a Detroit Diesel 50 hp diesel engine the self-propelled guns are equipped with the Bradley BMP M440 engine (Cummins V2 rated at 903 hp). [675] The self-propelled guns has a computer system for monitoring the health of the installation equipment. Information was obtained by the user from Wikipedia.
