Concern Kalashnikov published TTX small-sized machine AM-17

According to the information presented, the total length of the AM-17 assault rifle is 740 millimeters, the barrel length is 230 mm. The machine uses an 5,45X39 mm caliber cartridge. The magazine, equipped with ammunition visual inspection windows, holds 30 cartridges. The telescopic butt is folding to the right, the fire mode switches are located on both sides of the machine. Cocking handle can be located both on the right and on the left side weapons, which is very convenient for lefties, who can customize the weapon for themselves. There is a Picatinny rail that allows you to install various sights and lights on your weapon. Weight AM-17 - 2,5 kg.

A prototype AM-17 assault rifle was presented at the Army-2017 forum.

You can read more about the AM-17 machine in the material "Small-sized automatic machines AM-17 and AMB-17" on our website.

Yes. I watched a series of Policeman from ruble, where the main poet from the short barrel, without a butt, aims at a subordinate. Ash stump would not have hit. For what lantern drew. It’s a pity that somehow it became law enforcement officers. Real Vesch for the Ministry of Internal Affairs and without picatinny strips and ammunition control

5,45 for the Ministry of Internal Affairs? In an urban setting? Remind about the bullet ricochets of this cartridge? How much has already been said, but where it was - there it is. But Urya-Urya-Urya !!! The main thing is that the concern does not stand idle, and what they will sculpt there, the tenth matter! good

Konstantin, you are wrong. ricochet yes. Present, but depending on what bullets to shoot. there are ricochetless cartridges of his caliber, ak-74. their bullets are usually pressed in aluminum tunics (shirts). and so, for the Ministry of Internal Affairs is an excellent machine. 7,62 he is more for war than for police operations or anti-terror, which they do.

Reliability at SIG 552 at a high level. He has an AKM circuit revised to his standards. And they do not suffer with the receiver cover. KK also finally reached a similar design in the AM-17, only made of plastic.
Only the question is ripening - if you need small size with a short barrel, why use powerful cartridges, all the energy is not used! Use PP! Has the AK-74U operating experience really taught nothing?

and another story why there is no mention of the name Kalashnikov in the name of the weapon

The Russian has a completely different device and principle of operation. The MP5 has semi-free automation with roller deceleration in shutter operation. This automation in real combat is designed for several minutes of a soldier’s life. Such weapons are still used by police, where the requirements for the reliability of weapons are not as stringent as in the army. AM-17 is a full-fledged gas vent machine, whose roots grow from the development of MA Dragunov:

Heckler und Koch released a lot of things with such automation, not just PP. Such an automatic rifle was in service with the Bundeswehr. The adoption of this rifle was dictated by the fact that "under the conditions of a modern nuclear war, a soldier lives on the battlefield for only a few minutes, but manages to shoot a little during this time" - the Germans, too, are not without a sense of humor. wink . At the end of the Cold War, when the Atomic Apocalypse moved all living things indefinitely, this rifle was removed from service. It is still produced as a civilian weapon. In my opinion, in Brazil or Mexico (I do not remember exactly). There are also sniper modifications for the army, and for the police, and several variants of submachine guns. MP5 is a submachine gun, but its bolt is semi-free with two rollers.

Sorry. And what about the warehouses of AKSU-74 all over? I don’t understand why you need a duplicate for the same ammunition, with similar characteristics, especially for the Ministry of Internal Affairs where, as far as I know, shooting in the 5.45x39 room gives a lot of rebounds from the walls. I understand even if they did in caliber 9x19 (in fact, a submachine gun, but constructively - an automatic machine).
Hence the conclusion that the dough is cut by a concern by itself begs hi

To AKSU - only with blue electrical tape and superglue you can screw all sorts of handles, sights and so on. We are not talking about any caste - which is prohibited by statute.

This is just the version to which the handles and sights can be screwed as much as fit on the straps.

      9x19 already exists.

What are you going to screw, in principle, at an effective firing range of 300m? AKSU was brought to mind by designers for almost decades. This griddle is trusted only by those who believe that the new is always better than the old.

The body kits do not solve the problem of 5.45 bullet ricochets (note that you are comparing the PP and the machine gun, arguing with this photo). And I understood you correctly: in your opinion, is it easier to create a new machine from scratch specifically for the Picatinny rail than to finish the "Ksyusha" on a serial scale under the same bars?

In addition to PS bullets, there have already been about a dozen variants of 5,45 * 39 rounds of ammunition for a long time, you should not focus on what you used to shoot from. And so, yes, this is a modification of Ksyusha to the new VS requirements. The only thing that’s superfluous is this settings for right-handed, left-handed people, which leads to unnecessary increase in the cost of weapons and unnecessary cause for it, and this is an extra record that no one needs for elders and commanders, since there will be 2 shutter frames per automatic machine. So, in fact, we have right-handed people in the army They learn to shoot on the left, and left-handed people on the right, since not all shelters allow firing from a convenient hand for the shooter.

Well, how, how ... on the new one there are so many new beautiful holes "a la foreign countries", the production of which requires certain financial investments. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as an infusion without a "cut".

The machine uses a 5,45X39 mm caliber cartridge. The magazine, equipped with ammunition visual inspection windows, holds 30 rounds.

More recently, there was a publication by Roman Skomorokhov on the benefits of caliber 7, 62
But we have a cartridge. Sample 1943 of the year, 7,62 x 39. In 18 views. And all with the same advantages and disadvantages in the form of weight and other things. But it is able to pierce brickwork from a hundred meters to a depth of 15 centimeters, and a sheet of steel armor seven millimeters thick to pierce a BZ bullet from 300 meters.

    In addition, there are:
Judging by the message in the media about the possible refusal of the RF Ministry of Defense from the patron 5,45х39, the military department of our country does not stand aloof from world trends.

I’m just wondering what this publication is dedicated to and how to consider the 5,45 caliber cartridge?
It's time to determine the caliber. There have already been publications about the dangers of the many calibers available in both small arms and artillery. I already said that, while still a lieutenant, I learned a lesson from the fuel and lubricant mix, when exactly those that were needed from the tankers on the road got stuck ... And forty years ago, the fuel and lubricant service head dreamed of universal fuel (the same for all brands of army equipment) and a minimum set of oils ...
In general, the mechanism is beautiful. And the convenience for lefties is uniquely positive. My friend (left-handed) always swore at the shooting range ...

Well done good (the second time, after the Pistol Kozlov, they were pleasantly surprised, after all, looking at the attempts to "advance" constructively "unpromising" PYa, AK-12 (14, 15, 16, 17, ... winked ) and "other ...", I thought that they were completely "blown away", but no ?! smile ) "Concern Kalashnikov" - although they "calved" for a long time, but, finally, they were honored to launch into production (oh, winked have not yet been launched "into series", are they still only "experimenting" - "there is no need to be summed up"?!) the modernized design of Evgeny Fedorovich Dragunov good (in turn, created in full accordance with the unfading concepts of Alexei Ivanovich Sudaev!).
It is good that the sons of Yevgeny Fedorovich, worthy successors of his rifle Cause, during their lifetime saw the rebirth and "materialization" of yet another brilliant father's creation! I am also very glad and smile, finally, "... I saw who would come ..." following the "family" of AK-the birth of his, a priori mega-viable, full-fledged Heir (if only now, for thoughtlessness or some other reason, some "effective managers" did not "splash out" such a "golden child"!)!
The "proprietary dragunovskoe" locking of the barrel into three lugs (more reliable and stable than the two "proprietary Kalashnikov" latching lugs) seems to me more promising for the market expansion of weapon systems based on it.
In general, I see in this new ("well forgotten old" layout solution wink ) a sample of the beginning of the implementation by "Kalashnikov gunsmiths" of a truly "universal platform" of the next "generation" of domestic small arms, with which it will be possible to work and work - in the sense of a huge "tuning and modernization design stock" of this "scheme"!
Transferring the butt attachment to the "force line" of the receiver, with an integrated "sight rail", and the barrel, as a continuation of its "rigidity", I also consider it more preferable (than in the prototype) design solution - this is "minus one hinge" between the stop shoulder and muzzle of the barrel, which, coupled with Dragunov's "backlash selection" in the forward position of the bolt carrier and the much softer "short stroke" of the automatic drive gas piston, will have a positive effect on firing accuracy. And Russian manufacturers, finally, will be able to make money on "tuning", easily (and in a wide range!) By varying-combining with the design and arrangement of components for various modifications and cartridges!
It is no secret that in the course of setting up serial production and as a result of military operation, shoals of weapons inevitably "pop up", but "in the process" they are eliminated and, through the labor and talents of many people, the deadly "product" takes on the form and properties that deservedly become a Legend - I think that even now we are all witnessing the "timid and timid" birth of yet another legendary domestic model of small arms of the XXI century ... this is my personal opinion ("so I see!" Yes ) - I do not impose it on anyone - The future will show itself!

A long rail, an adjustable butt, a convenient handle, a transparent magazine, a two-way fire translator ... But all this could be done with the usual ak-74 using modkits. It wouldn’t even have to be invented (or was it invented?) There was abakan, there were Kalashnikovs with balanced automation, ake, but, apparently, the trained fighter has a minimal increase in efficiency, and the cost of construction and damage to reliability become unacceptable. Well, no one will give more expensive weapons to the untrained. And, in the end, we have, albeit a very successful design, but adopted in 47 of the last century. What changed? There was AKM, AKMS and AKMN, there are additional functions, but the same machine is basically. And everything seems to be honest. And here instead of innovation: they come up with new names. ax74-u2 or ak-74mu will not bring so much money? And in a year they will fasten the collimator and will it be am-20 already? And then sit still do nothing for a year, right?
