Ukrainian tank BM "Oplot" never reached the US military
As previously reported, in February 2018 of the year in Ukraine announced the delivery to the United States of one instance of a tank "Oplot", manufactured by SE "plant named after Malyshev." This event was called "very promising" and "opening access for Ukrainian technologies" to the military market of the United States. In Kiev, said that after studying the Ukrainian tank, the United States may decide to purchase already the party "Oplotov".
It was assumed that in the 2018 year, the “Malyshev plant” would end the Thai contract, after which it would supply one tank for export, and also begin supplying “Oplots” to the troops.
As it turned out, an agreement between the State Enterprise "Malyshev Plant" and the Ukrainian state enterprise "Spetsexport" for the manufacture of one Oplot tank for delivery in the interests of the US Department of Defense was signed 1 June 2012 of the year. The plant undertook to transfer to the property of "Spetsexport" BM tank "Oplot" worth 30,576 mln. no later than 31 of December of 2012, however, over the 7 years of construction of the tank, its cost not only increased 4 times, but it was not built at all, since the Malyshev plant is bankrupt. As a result, the parties entered into a settlement agreement to terminate the contract. Unfinished tank BM "Oplot" is in the shops of the bankrupt plant, and the US military did not know what promising military equipment they lost.
