FSB detained a senator from Karachay-Cherkessia right in the Federation Council
According to TASS, citing his source in the Federation Council, Arashukova is accused of several articles at once, including the organization of the criminal community and involvement in the murder. Before the 32-year-old parliamentarian was detained, the plenary meeting of the Federation Council was unexpectedly closed to the press for the press, and employees of the Federal Guard Service blocked the entrance to the hall.
Arashukov was authorized by the Senator from the Republic of Karachay-Cherkessia on September 18 2016.
As it became known, in 2010, in Karachaevo-Cherkessia, two resonant murders occurred, in which Arashukov, who was then 24 of the year, could have been involved. Detainees in the murder case of Aslan Zhukov, leader of the Circassian movement “Adyge-Khase”, and presidential candidate Fral Shebzukhov, “the perpetrators” pointed to the future senator as the ordering party.
Relatives of those killed in September 2018 sent a written appeal demanding to initiate criminal proceedings against Arashukov to the Chairman of the Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin, Director of the FSB Alexander Bortnikov, Prosecutor General Yury Chayka and Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko.
According to the law, members of the Council of the Federation are classified as special subjects and enjoy immunity: only the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia can personally sanction their persecution with the consent of the Speaker of the Chamber, received on the basis of the submission of the Prosecutor General.
