The Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine (GPU) accused State Duma deputy, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) Vladimir Zhirinovsky of involvement in the encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, the official GPU site.
According to information published by the prosecutor's office, Vladimir Zhirinovsky is charged with speaking at rallies in the 2014 year, during which he “publicly called for the annexation of the territory of Crimea and the south-eastern regions of Ukraine to Russia.” Based on this, the General Secretary of Ukraine against the LDPR leader drafted a criminal offense under Part 3 Art. 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine."
This accusation against Zhirinovsky is not the first. In September last year, the Shevchenkovsky District Court of Kiev allowed a special pre-trial investigation against Vladimir Volfovich and two more State Duma deputies "for supporting the republics of Donbass", and in October, the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office accused Zhirinovsky of financing terrorism. In addition, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party is included in the sanctions lists of Ukraine.
Vladimir Volfovich himself called all the criminal cases initiated against him in Ukraine “political persecution”.
