Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov commented on the publication in the Japanese press about Tokyo’s desire to receive guarantees from Russia on the “transfer of Shikotan and Habomai” as part of the signing of a peace treaty. The head of the Kremlin press service said that Tokyo did not offer the Russian authorities to transfer the said islands "in the context of the discussion of a peace treaty."
According to Peskov, any reasoning on this subject is inquiring positions, wishes, reasoning, or "thinking out loud."
Sands:
No more.
After that, the journalists asked the press secretary of the president how Vladimir Putin would react if such a “proposal” from the Japanese prime minister is received. Peskov called such reasoning “eventual” (possible under certain circumstances) and added that they are hardly relevant in this situation.
A few days ago, Peskov said that the signing of a peace treaty could be carried out solely on the basis of taking into account the interests of the Russians. A separate question is who exactly today defines the interests of ordinary Russians in our country?
Meanwhile, in Japan, as shown by the data of sociological polls, the majority of respondents are in favor of “getting” four islands of the South Kuriles. On the two islands "do not agree." The Japanese version of the "separation of the skin of an unkilled bear."
