The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the new radar over-the-horizon detection will carry out full-fledged combat duty from 2019 in the Republic of Mordovia. We are talking about the radar station "Container".
Previously, the radar station was located in the Mordovian settlement Kovylkino. On experienced- combat duty calculations of the radio-technical forces of the Russian Aerospace Force of the Russian Federation were intercepted by 1 December last year. Within a few weeks, a series of tests on the operation of the “Container” under the program of state tests was carried out. At the same time, according to the test results, those sides of the radar station were identified that need to be improved.
A new generation 29B6 Container radar, according to the commander of the 1st Army Air Defense Missile Defense of the RF Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Andrei Demin, is capable of detecting the start of hypersonic missile systems and facilities aviation.
The radar "Container" makes it possible to detect the target at a maximum distance of about 3 thousand km in the spatial sector 240 degrees. Earlier it was reported that the review sector for such a radar is 180 degrees. The target detection process can now be called "pack in a container."
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation plans to build and install over ten of the latest 29B6 “Container” radar stations in different regions of the country. This system will allow continuous monitoring of airspace around the Russian Federation in a significant frequency range.
The settlement of the station is located near the settlement of Kovylkino. The transmitter "Container" is located in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
