Perspective models of weapons of the XXI century. Ammunition and Ergonomics (Part 4)

51
Any rifle, including an electronically driven one, is a murder weapon. And the more perfect it is, the more effective it is the killing itself. The same bullet with a caliber of 5,45 mm and a weight of 3,4 grams can be accelerated to 890 m / s, and an armor-piercing weight of 4,1 grams to 840 m / s. In the previous materials it was noted that due to the significantly longer barrel length and the speed of the bullet will be greater under the same equal conditions, which means that the flatness will increase weapons and its armor penetration. Well, if you use a more efficient, say, liquid fuel in ampoules, then the speed will increase even more.

Ammunition for a grenade launcher: a cartridge and a grenade that is in it.

But the ammunition itself for such rifles will have to be developed anew, although all the components of such development are already there and they just need to be properly combined in one “cartridge.” Why is the word patron given in ""? Yes, because it should not be quite a cartridge in the usual sense of the word.

Let's start with the bullet. Since the rifle barrels are smooth (and chrome-plated), the bullet has an unusual design, and looks like a German masonry hand grenade. It has a cylindrical head part of the corresponding outlines, then a rather long “tail-rod” at the end of which an X-shaped stabilizer is fixed. Three “rings” are put on the “tail”. The first is an inductor coil that picks up microwave radiation from the control unit and converts it into an electric current that feeds the chip of the second “ring”, which performs the function of a “receiver”. The third "ring" is a primer-igniter, which is triggered by a command from the chip. The propellant composition — either gunpowder or liquid fuel in four ampoules — is placed in a combustible cylindrical cartridge that plays the role of a metal sleeve. In the trunks, the bottom parts of the preceding bullets rest against the head parts of the subsequent ones, and those, respectively, with their bottoms against the closures. Thus, the recoil is transmitted to the entire structure and the cartridges do not wrinkle when fired! And since they enter the trunks very tightly, the gas breakthrough from the firing cartridge to the rest is excluded.

The cartridge is inserted into the barrel, and the grenade has ready-made protrusions for grooves on the walls of the cartridge. Therefore, leaving it when fired, it begins to rotate.

The bullet material is steel. That is, they are technologically simple - no non-ferrous metal shells, and no lead. Naturally, both the speed and the lethal force of such a bullet will be much higher than that of bullets of a traditional design. As for their electronic filling, factories will be engaged in its production -Robots, so that human hands will not even touch these cartridges. Well, the finished ones will immediately be inserted into cartridges with a pneumatic drive, and again, the soldier does not even have to pick them up. Suitability testing is carried out using a computer, that is, in the most modern way, as it should be. Actually, all this already exists, and in the near future it will become the universal norm. Well, except that in the Amazonian selva and on the Maclay Coast in New Guinea, everything will remain the same as it is now, and as it was even earlier.

English SA-80 with a grenade launcher.

In this photo do you see the English rifle SA-80? paired with a grenade launcher. And so she did not shine with the design, and with it it became even worse. Firstly, the grenade launcher leans to her sideways, which is not very convenient. Secondly, a grenade with a sleeve. Well, another pistol grip, trigger, fuse. That is, the mass of all kinds of parts. And why all this when it can be made much easier?

However, warheads for rifle barrels EVN-18 is not all. Now it is fashionable (and also practical!) To equip automatic rifles with grenade launchers. So she also has a removable grenade launcher under the barrel. He turned off two "lamb", and he is removed. He put it back, screwed them into place - now he is ready for battle. In fact, there are now a great many of the most diverse grenade launchers that stand on our Kalashnikov, both the American M16, and the English SA-80, however, this grenade launcher is definitely the simplest among them. In fact, this is just a barrel of 45-mm caliber and that’s all, no special mechanization is provided for in it. The thing is that he also has an electronic drive, and if so, what and why do he need “mechanisms”? True, the ammunition for such a grenade launcher from the usual somewhat different. First of all, the grenades to it (except for one, which will be the story ahead) are in cylindrical cartridges that play the role of capping 45-mm caliber. In the walls of the cartridge there are rifling, and on the case of 40-mm grenades, respectively, there are ready protrusions. The grenade has a so-called "flying sleeve", that is, the metal charge is undermined directly in the grenade body, after which the pressure of the gases throws the grenade out of the barrel. Naturally, the cartridge from falling out is held by a latch in the breech. It does not allow the cartridge to fly out of the barrel along with the grenade when it moves along the grooves. But then the cartridge flies out of the barrel itself, but only after it leaves the grenade. The solution is simple and elegant! There is a small hole in the back bottom of the cartridge. Powder gases pass into it at the moment of the shot, but do not immediately fill the space behind it, because it is very small. But then still fill and press the latch holding the cartridge. Well, by that time the grenade had already flown out of the barrel, and after it the powder gases, which always leads to a decrease in pressure. But the pressure on the bottom of the cartridge is still high and now it throws it out of the barrel!

40 mm caliber grenades for a rifle grenade launcher for this rifle can be of various types: high-explosive fragmentation, cumulative fragmentation, incendiary smoke with a white phosphorus “filling”, and the size of the grenades allows you to have a decent charge of gas . Fuse - programmable via electronic control unit. A very expensive, but effective, controlled 45-mm ammunition with a TV camera mounted on it, and therefore not having a threaded cartridge, can be used. After all, it is completely useless to rotate in flight, but it is controlled by means of drop-down steering surfaces.

The cartridge for garnet is sealed, which, of course, convenient. The cover of the cartridge stands for the dimensions of the barrel, so it is convenient not only to insert, but also to remove.

Imagine, for example, that a unit of fighters with such rifles keeps the defense on the reverse slopes of the hills and is subjected to severe machine-gun fire from several tankswhich forward, however, do not go. But their commanders and those charging are firing so hard from the machine guns of the tower that they can’t stick their heads out, but they themselves are behind the armor plates. What to do? The unit commander contacts the UAV hovering high in the sky, he gives him a “battle picture”, the computer indicates the location of his shooters and which one is closest to the annoying tanks. He makes a shot with such a grenade, and it flies towards the enemy along a ballistic trajectory. As soon as his TV camera turns to the ground and shows the target, the UAV will transfer control of the grenade to either the shooter himself or his commander, who only needs to keep the crosshair of her screen on ... the back of the tower. A hit, an explosion, and both machine gunners lost their heads at once, and the tank immediately became practically unworkable.

Here it is - a grenade trigger ring. "Weapons in the most extreme case."

It is quite possible here and we are waiting for the question, but how about EMP? And what if this rifle “burns everything out” and there is nothing left for the soldier? It will be just this grenade launcher. True, you don’t shoot with a queue of him, but there are soldiers in the subunit with mechanical long-range rifles for sniper shooting. But on the other hand he has different power, and the number of shots is replaced by quality. So that a soldier will be able to use it for self-defense in those rare cases when electronics ... "let you down." Please note that in the breech of the grenade there is a ring. This is an ordinary trigger with a pin on the end. Pull it back with your finger to the limit, then let go - and the striker hits the primer in the back of the cartridge. The grenade is no longer programmed, but it will still explode from a strike if it hits the target. In this case, the fuse activates the cartridge lid, which the grenade pulls down when it leaves the barrel.

The bottom part of the grenade with holes for the exit of gases, a nest for the primer and ready protrusions for grooves inside the cartridge. The propellant powder charge can also be supplemented with a rocket powder engine, which will be launched at a distance of 10-15 m from the muzzle, so that the jet stream does not affect the arrow.

Moreover, it is quite possible to use this grenade launcher in the light mortar version: you rest it on the butt, put the cartridges into the barrel and pull the ring - that's all. And the required angle of inclination of the trunk and the direction in azimuth to you will again be prompted by a computer. Although in which case you can see for yourself!

For self-defense there is a special shrapnel shot. Also essentially a grenade, but only filled with steel balls or cubes, and exploding at some distance from the shooter. This distance can be established through an electronic unit, but if for some reason it does not work, then an undermining will occur, say, meters in 50, which is quite enough to keep the enemy away from a closer distance. However, all this must necessarily be established research, and so, at random, you can only make assumptions.

Butt and back antabka for a belt. In principle, nothing in this design does not interfere with planting both swivels on four screws and, if necessary, transfer them from one side to the other.

Today, much attention is paid to the convenience of handling weapons, that is, ergonomics, and in this regard, despite its angular appearance, the proposed rifle is notable for its increased usability. To begin with, it is essentially a “whale”, that is, a “assembly kit” that every soldier conducts for himself. As it has already been noted here, the handle of turning the valves works equally to the left and to the right, so it suits both left-handers and right-handers. Also, the left and right hand opens the cartridge lock and turns the gas cartridge during reloading.

Carefully look at this photo and compare it with previous ones. You will see that the control unit with the pistol grip on the 15 cm is shifted back. That is, it is not difficult to choose any arrangement of the controls of the rifle under the anthropometry of each shooter! People with short and long arms can easily “make” it just for themselves.

The electronic unit can be installed both on the left and on the right, and it is very important that this rifle has ... an adjustable pistol grip that moves back and forth along the block of barrels, back and forth, providing the soldier with maximum convenience for using the rifle. Yes, her stock is still, but the handle moves with the sight and electronic control unit. On the casing, covering the block of trunks from all sides, there are four screws with "sheep". He turned away, chose for himself the most convenient position of the handle relative to the butt, then turned them again and ... serve, do not wear! That is, the level of ergonomics in the rifle is really very high.

Immediately the shots and memories of how a Russian pilot was killed in Syria came to mind. In memory of Nord-Ost and other tragedies. And therefore, we need not chatter, but real methods and methods for special forces.

"The material from which the bullets are made is steel. That is, they are simple technologically - no non-ferrous metal shirts for you, and no lead."
A very dubious statement. I saw the consequences of passing the original Blondo bullet without lead belts. If there is chrome, then a little. And the trunk itself was full of pea-shaped bloats. Relatively soft belts still have to worry.

Lead and other bands can be replaced by a special surface of the bullet itself. Then even a smoothbore can shoot bullets that will rotate and there will be no breakthroughs of powder gases

the tank gun is also smooth-bore, but the shell has centering and obturating belts. Unfortunately, manufacturing tolerances in the development of shells cannot be canceled by order.

When we talk about aquaplaning, everything seems to be clear to everyone, but the same process happens in the barrel with the projectile. Therefore, the problem is not even in the barrel and the shells of the projectile or bullet, but in the fact that when the body flies out of the barrel, the airy elastic medium extinguishes the kinetic energy of the flight. So if there is a resistance force, there are algorithms for changing this resistance, then it can always be transformed to a useful direction. In a shell and a bullet, a dashboard or a rocket, an aircraft engine and a host of other cases, you can use the resistance force. This is the physics of organizing such processes and the technology for their implementation . Another matter is whether this is necessary or not, and to whom.

With such a bullet design, barrel wear will have such a speed that through each hundred shots it will be necessary to increase the diameter of the bullets, since there will be no obturation. And neither chromium plating nor molybdenum disulfide will help here. It’s like it’s on the surface - after each shot the diameter of the barrel will increase - this is uncontested. Therefore, the gap between the bullet and the bore will increase, which can only be compensated by increasing the diameter of the next bullet. Or a change of trunk. At the same time, amendments must be made to the fire control program, such that with such a design the ballistics will vary greatly from shot to shot and the correction must be made all the time, as happens in tank guns, where the ballistic computer constantly gives this correction.

That's right. Therefore, it is necessary to work not with the principles expressed by the concept and the processes themselves as with friction, but with magnetic force flows. Therefore, the formation of a special micro-surface of a projectile or bullet allows harmonizing the processes of ionization of both discharge surfaces.

It’s immediately obvious that the humanist writes
        Can you imagine:
        1. the energy that is needed to create magnetic force flows for a bullet in the barrel?
        2. the price of such ammunition and weapons?
        3. the weight of the whole farm?
Your development from start to finish is a collection of some stupid things that you justify either by science fiction or by "classified materials that I have no right to disclose."
Fantastic electronics that will not die in the cold, from shaking when shooting, from moisture / sand / dust, sources of electricity that can hold a charge for weeks and months, when the size of a matchbox and its weight, etc., etc.
When there is such an elementary base, then they will do something that remotely resembles your "invention". Why distantly? Because:
        1. no one will put more than 1 barrel, in a real battle, in 99% of cases, fire is fired either in single or short bursts of 2-3 rounds
        2. charging in blocks - insanity from and to. This increases both the weight of the ammunition and the volume
        3. Inseparability interferes with cleaning - this is generally ATAS, elven elixirs must themselves clean the barrel after firing!
        4. the 4.6mm caliber is not enough, NATO in Afghanistan is actively returning to the rifle 7,62 * 51 (NK417 and other guns of recent years), is thinking about switching to a single 6,5mm - i.e. it dawned on everyone that size still mattered
        5. All these screens and other "bells and whistles" will be "killed" in a month of operation or three days of real battles. Except as extra mass and volume, they do not give ANYTHING. Mythically, wind and temperature corrections are amusing. This is necessary for snipers when shooting at 300+ meters, but not for a soldier with a machine gun: he is required to saturate the given direction with bullets, or even better - just drive the enemy into a shelter, which will be hit by art / aviation

And so for each item. In this development, there is not a single element that would have a real opportunity for implementation, I'm not talking about the whole complex.
        Good luck.

I wanted to write everything and forgot. Misfire. Absolutely trouble-free cartridge does not happen. It is necessary to provide a method for extracting a cartridge that has not fired. And if the first does not shoot and remains, and the next shoots - the barrel will break.

All these samples "died without being born." None of them have ever been in service, like a host of other "wunderwaffs", designed over several hundred years of using firearms. I'm not even talking about the creativity of various "folk-gunsmiths - homemade", as the option under consideration. In addition, some are aiming at more ambitious projects, creating aviation of the future, tanks of the future, and especially advanced perpetual motion machines.

            14 December 2018 09: 12
About "died without being born" you have already been answered, on my own I will add the following:
            1. Cutoff shooting is easy to train even with a weapon that does not have such a shooting mode. Any machine gunner MUST be able to do this, and ordinary soldiers are also taught this on an urgent basis. Those. for this we don't need to change anything, from the word "absolutely"
            2. a weapon with a cut-off is, in fact, the same as without, there is a minimal change in design that does not complicate it and does not critically cost more (a few percent). Moreover, any automatic machine without a cut-off is modified to receive it almost in the garage: in the USA, a lot of spare parts are sold that allow this to be turned at home in half an hour.

Now about why multi-barrel automatic weapons will not work:
            1. weight - each barrel weighs hundreds of grams, almost a kilo. Designers seek to lighten their personal weapons so that the soldiers are less tired and carry more ammunition. Multi-barrel systems exacerbate the weight situation
            2. supply of a cartridge - here and with one barrel the cartridge easily warps \ extraction is stuck, why complicate the mechanism and get the growth of failures exponentially?
            3. disassembling \ cleaning \ leaving - is required after each shooting, and even just after a field exit without a fight (especially where dust / sand is the norm). Complicates a fighter’s life out of the blue, again

As a result, multi-barrels, in addition to a small increase in rate of fire (Kalash and so spets 600vyst \ min), do not give anything. At the same time, the excessive rate of fire for an individual weapon is more likely a minus than a plus - the ammunition will fly off in a matter of minutes of battle, that's why they shoot single or with a cutoff.
And even machine guns for the most part are single-barreled, because even these "machines" the rate of fire is not critical.

So that the design does not fall apart, and the electronics work reliably, they are equipped with cartridges with ridiculously small expelling charges. Grenades are the most expensive element of the presented sample and they are few, but enough for the presentation.

I would suggest placing the trigger not from the bottom of the bracket, but as done on the A-91 / ADS machine. That is, the trigger half of the trigger grenade launcher is just a little further from the trigger machine. You can make a slot in the bracket where it will go when installing the grenade launcher on the machine.

      smooth rifle trunks

How do you suggest calling names? Musket? Fuzeei? In our reality, you can find many examples when the word has lost its "original" meaning, but is used! For example, in conversations about the Navy (Navy), names such as frigate, corvette may "fall" by ear ... Initially: Frigate-sailing 3-masted ship, the second largest after the battleship; A corvette is a light (!) (Sometimes, medium ...) sailing 3-masted ship ... But what have the "current" frigates and corvettes "become" into?

The melee range is important for small arms, since at this distance for closed theater of operations the use of infantry is decisive, indispensable and associated with the greatest losses - achieving the maximum effect for an individual infantryman in close combat is a matter of his life and death.
Accordingly, you must have a grenade launcher for close combat:
"The grenade launcher should be in the dimensions of a hand grenade, one-time, with an effective firing range at point targets of 60 m, as well as attached to the weapon immediately before firing, and then automatically thrown forward, which provides a rate of fire of 15 rpm and does not increase weight." hands. "The weight of the permanent part of the grenade launcher on an individual weapon is 100-200 g. The body of the grenade launcher is made of plastic in the form of a glass. In the hand grenade mode, together with the check, the plug is removed from the body and the grenade flies only 0,5-1 m. Taking into account the closed nature of the theater of operations and the specifics of close combat, it is purely high-explosive and is equipped with a device that allows ricochet firing "around the corner" when reflected from the floor, ceiling or walls. Compensating for the weight of the fragments, the caliber of the grenade was raised from 40 mm to 60 mm, the weight of the explosive - from 26 g ( for a 40 mm grenade) up to 200 g (for an F-1 grenade - 60 g).
Quasi-volumetric explosion charge. Around the central charge, there are ready-made explosive fragments, which are initiated with a delay when they fly 1,5-2 m.This solution, on the one hand, evens out the pressure field, increasing the radius of the shock wave, and on the other hand, with a direct hit on the enemy such a splinter, even with a bulletproof vest, causes a severe wound. And although such a charge, unlike an explosive of a purely volumetric explosion (ethylene oxide, propylene oxide, methane, etc.) has less power, the nature of the explosion does not depend on temperature, wind, precipitation and humidity. In addition to high-explosive, it is proposed to use rapidly burning, blinding (obscuring visibility) smoke grenades, which, like many other smoke charges, have a tear and asphyxiation effect as a side effect in a relatively confined space. At one time, the explosive system was armed with a satan system, and with a caliber of almost 40 mm, it fired a charge of large rubber buckshot. It was specially designed to suppress riots in the colonies. He opened the door and fired especially not aiming anywhere ... after which there were multiple bounces. As a result, whoever stood - the one who sat, the one lying ... And no rubber bomb ...

How trite. No fantasy. Well, 80% of the population has not been canceled ...

Irony or that it is clearly inappropriate. The man wrote to you what it is like in the trench, but you don't care. Weapons are not even cleaned by specialist officers, even after business trips, and then they make claims to the gunsmiths and are very surprised. I talked with my grandfather a front-line soldier, the kingdom is heavenly to him, he was sent to the front at the age of 16. I was very surprised when he told how they were mowing from the PPSh at the front and changing it to a three-line. The PPSh disc is very unpleasantly pounding on the ridge / back. The fate of "Svetka" is well known, a good rifle is good for a "good" army, with lunch and butter on schedule, and without good oil the rifle would not fire. American soldiers refuse to fight at all without beer. 25 barrels in the field to clean is fantastic. Multilateral systems have been known for more than one hundred years and have not received distribution, the arguments were presented to you. An example of a revolving revolver system, a multi-breech breech and a single barrel, a hybrid, however, is a compromise option. It can be charged from either side. The electronic target designation system is in no way associated with a specific type of weapon and can be used on weapons in service. Make and test it. People help you in one way or another - CENTERS!

If a person is not immersed in this topic for a year, then the reaction is usually even more negative, do not pay attention! I recently wrote a rationale on the topic of "the need to introduce electromechanical small arms", I propose several theses: - remote control over weapons (availability of ammunition, consumption, direction and intensity of fire) will automate control at the command post of real actions of subunits in real time; - when installing an electromechanical weapon on the machine, in the direction of the enemy, it will allow monitoring from a joint control panel in the absence of the owner of the weapon (sleep, food, replenishment of ammunition, etc.); - remote blocking of weapons up to complete destruction in case of capture by the enemy; - when installed on a remote control, the turntable will allow organizing protection in difficult weather conditions at unprotected positions; - will allow processing information received directly from the battlefield by more trained control center specialists; - in the process of training l / s to identify errors, capabilities and behavior of a soldier, to reduce the consumption of ammunition well, etc. etc.
Scope: - for organizing the protection of field positional areas of formations not in direct contact with the enemy on the front line, these are field Command Posts, Missile Divisions and separate launching Strategic Missile Forces, air defense, communications centers, hospitals, field depots of fuel and lubricants, food, ammunition, airfields, strategic objects troops and infrastructure of the positional area where the enemy's DRG attack is possible. For all these listed formations, the personnel allocated for protection and defense are "weakly" (from the word voosche :)) prepared to counter the DRG (do you imagine the Chief of the Hospital, he is the Aeroput - the chief of the guard of orderlies and nurses? Or Chief of the product without security but with food?). In the event of a "military danger", it will be impossible to provide all important facilities with trained personnel capable of repelling an attack by the DRG in the first months, due to the destroyed system of mobilization and training of reservists in full.

For the author’s information, the weight of a grenade fired from a grenade launcher is equal to 0,25 kg, while the machine with the grenade launcher becomes unusable after the order of 500 shots. An attempt to multiply the dimensions and weight of a grenade and even use a parasitic cartridge will result in the machine’s structure scattering after 100 shots, and you will only have to shoot a grenade with the gun’s butt resting on the ground (so that the recoil does not break the arrow of the shooter).

With regards to the shooting part of the proposed smoothbore "rifle", this is a typical sphero-conical horse in a vacuum laughing

This article talks about the ammunition for this sample. The bullet will look like a mortar mine. How long will she have? Material - steel, what brand? What will be the caliber? The induction coil is a copper + chip capsule. How much will be the ammunition of the propellant charge - gunpowder, liquid-gunpowder - this is an excuse, think for yourself, and why are you? Develop weapons without knowing what you will charge. An ampoule is a sleeve, what material will we make of? You need to know the length of the ammunition in advance - the length of the barrel is limited! Take the cartridge for the G-11 - still being finalized or just pretending? Take arrow-shaped bullets - they look like darts for darts, take shots for an RPG or a projectile for a tank there, the shank is laid out in flight, what do you prefer - decide in advance, otherwise everything will have to be redone along the way. A light bullet from a smooth barrel will not fly far. A shot for the GP-25, than you do not like. The situation is proposed how to recapture tanks, but can bypass them from the rear and butt on the head? good

I strongly doubt that such weapons will be released in the coming decades. Too expensive to manufacture and too low reliability in the field, so that the current rifles will remain in service for a long time.
